3 Month Favourites | April - June 2024

It always feels too soon when another Favourites post comes around, but I really can't believe it's the end of June already!

Favourite Movie (1): Sting

I reviewed this film HERE and it is undoubtedly my favourite film of the last three months! It's exactly what I wanted it to be, I loved it and I can't wait to rewatch it again!

Favourite Movie (2): IF


This was my biggest surprise of the last three months. I paid no attention to this because I didn't think I'd like it, and then I ended up absolutely loving it! I'll be uploading a review at some point, but it's definitely one for both kids and adults.

Favourite Movie (3): The Royal Hotel


This is another review that I'll be uploading eventually, but I really really enjoyed this movie. It wasn't really what I was expecting, and I can understand why some may not like it, but it had a lot of tension and was overall a great watch for me.

Favourite Movie (4): The Dark Knight Trilogy


These obviously aren't new movies, but I watched them for the first time (for my 100 Movie Bucket List) and loved them so much that I had to include them here. It was my first time watching a solo Batman movie and I completely fell in love with the character! Also, Christian Bale was incredible in the role!

Favourite TV Show (1): Baby Reindeer

I reviewed this show HERE, and I'm pretty sure you've heard of it and know exactly what it's about, so I won't go on about it here. But I did really like the show!

Favourite Show (2): Sherlock


When I was going through Andrew Scott's filmography following All of Us Strangers, I came across Sherlock. Of course, I'd heard of it, but I'd never really been interested in it. But when I started watching it, I absolutely fell in love with it and wished I had seen it sooner! Though actually, I'm glad I didn't have to wait years for the seasons to come out! 

Favourite TV Show (3): Chucky


This is my most recent favourite. I had been meaning to start the show for a while but only got around to it in the last couple of days and have been steadily binging it since. I fell in love with the first episode and from then haven't been able to stop watching. Also, being a long-time fan of the Child's Play movies, and being able to recognise previous stories and characters (and actors) has been so much fun! If you're a fan of the movies, definitely check out the show!

Favourite Song: Les Mis Soundtrack


I rewatched the movie a few weeks ago and fell in love with the songs all over again, which happens every time I watch the movie so it wasn't a surprise! This time around I can't get enough of 'I Dreamed A Dream', 'The Confrontation' and 'Stars' so check those out! Especially The Confrontation!

Favourite YouTuber: Chandler Ainsley

I've only really been watching BookTubers lately, so it's always nice when BookTubers begin vlogging. I've been loving Chandler's vlogs as well as her book videos, and I've probably been watching her more than anyone else in the last few months.

Favourite Actor: Christian Bale

I've been completely late to the 'Christian Bale is one of the best actors in the world' train but I'm fully on board now because it's so true! This came directly from watching The Prestige and the Dark Knight trilogy, and then delving into some of his other movies (such as The Fighter, Out of the Furnace and Amsterdam) and I'm now a really big fan!

Favourite Book (1): Clown in a Cornfield

I reviewed this book HERE and made no secret of my love for it. I've since found out that there's going to be a movie and I cannot wait to see that! I'm not sure of the release date but I'm keeping an eye out! In the meantime, I have two sequels to read - probably next year at this point!

Favourite Book (2): I'm Glad My Mom Died


I don't really review biographies or autobiographies, so I won't be reviewing this one, but what a book! Not only is the story so insane, so heart-breaking, so powerful, but it was told in such an interesting way. McCurdy is a great writer and I have no idea of her plans, but I hope she continues writing because I'd love to read more of her books!

When New York City is faced with an alien invasion, citizens try to find a way to stay safe. Soon, they discover that the mysterious creatures hunt by sound. I really liked the first Quiet Place movie, and really disliked the second one, so I was in two minds about seeing this film. Ultimately, though, I had high hopes that a prequel would be a good way to continue this unique story. Unfortunately, while I liked this film more than the second, I didn't like it as much as I wanted to. A Family Affair | Film Review

Zara's (Joey King) life is turned upside down when the famous actor she works for (Zac Efron) starts dating her mother (Nicole Kidman). I didn't find the premise of this film particularly exciting, maybe because it's similar to 'The Idea of You', but the calibre of actors involved was interesting enough that I wanted to see if it would be better than it looked. In short, The Idea of You was the better movie. This one had some interesting ideas but nothing worked as well as it could have. For a start, the pacing was really weird. If the film is about a love story, why are the characters basically already together in the first 30 minutes of the movie? It feels like it comes completely out of nowhere. And while this may have been interesting when it comes to exploring how King's character feels about the romance, that's not how the audience should feel. And this may not have been as big a problem if the characters had some kind of undeniable chemistry that just

Citizen Kane | 100 Movies Bucket List

Next up was a re-watch that I really wasn't looking forward to!  This film is definitely in at least the top 10 of highly revered films on the List. I studied it back in university, so I wasn't surprised that it was on there. I'm pretty sure it's the film that I was least looking forward to watching. I didn't like it when I studied it, and I didn't like it this time around either. The reason for this is mostly that I just find it really boring. I didn't care about the character, so watching the whole film going over every aspect of his life to find out the significance of his last word just isn't appealing at all. Now that's not to say that I don't recognise the good things about the film. For the time it was made, it was really innovative, and probably permanently changed the way films are made. The performances were also great, both for the time and now. So while I don't feel like the film is a masterpiece, and am definitely not in any rush

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial | 100 Movie Bucket List

  Next up was a rewatch. I'll be honest - this isn't one I was looking forward to watching again. I used to watch this film a lot when I was a kid, but I never really had fond memories of it. So when I saw it was on the Bucket List, while I wasn't surprised, it wasn't one I was itching to see. And after watching it, I understand why I felt that way. I can understand why millions of people have a connection to the film, especially those who grew up with it. It's a really sweet story and it was written and directed really well. The actors are amazing, especially the children - Henry Thomas, Robert MacNaughton and Drew Barrymore did so well in their roles and made the film what it was. But in saying all of that, it didn't connect with me any more now than it did when I was younger. I thought it was good, but that's kind of it. Girl Talk: Affordable Back-To-School Outfits

Since my 'Summer Fashion' post, I have been playing around on polyvore non-stop! In that post, I said that I would be posting a Back-To-School collection. As many people have been going back to school this week, or are going back next week, I thought that it was only right to do this post today! When looking around today, I decided to only choose clothes that would be in a teenager's parent's price range. I have chosen a few outfit ideas that I think would be suitable and affordable for anyone to wear casually to school (if you don't have a uniform) college, or even university! All prices to each piece of clothing will be below as well as a link where you can buy each one. Some of them have bags and some don't, mainly because most people use one school bag with every outfit and if you're going to school within the next week or two then you most likely already have the bag that you're going to use for the rest of the year!
