Finishing University For Good!

Hey Guys x So as I mentioned in my last university round-up post, which you can read HERE , I mentioned that I couldn't really relax until I got my results, because then I would know for sure if I was completely finished and whether or not the last three years had been worth it. I never talk about end of year results, because they don't matter as much as the final year results. In other words, everything I've done at uni for the last three years had been leading to this. I got a 2.1!! Even writing that feels really weird because it doesn't seem true. I feel like I'm just writing what I wanted to get and not what I actually got, and I'm in the very fortunate position for that to be the same thing. So, as you can tell from my happiness with my result, I'm completely done. I am now an adult graduate with a degree in English Literature with Creative Writing, and again, it feels weird to even be writing that. I guess the point of this post is just ...

My Final Year At University!

Hey Guys x I've done this yearly round-up post three times and for each I've used the same background photo, please appreciate the consistency! So, I have officially finished university... kind of. If I passed all of my modules, then I'm completely done. I had no exams this year, so it was just a whole lot of essays to perfect, and now that I've done that and handed them in, I'm worry-free until results day in July! I thought I would feel relieved to say that, and in a way I definitely am. But as I'm sure is understandable, I can't let myself get too happy until I actually get those results. And even then, there's a niggling hint of worry about what comes next. The whole 'adult in the big wide real world' thing, like when you hear the stories of graduates who don't go on to do anything because they can't get a job, that's a huge worry. But I'm giving myself a little bit of time before I have to start full-on worrying. How...

My First Year At University!

Hey Guys x I know that my blog posting has been suffering a bit over the last few weeks, however, this was because I was revising for and taking exams. And now, I'm finished! I have finished my first year and uni, and it feels incredible! If you've been reading my blog for a while, you might remember last year when I wrote posts about how scared I was about starting. I thought I was going to have a horrible time and make no friends and fail everything. But I've made it through the other side with a fresh perspective. It definitely wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, for sure! But it wasn't the fun, exciting experience that everyone said it would be either. And I'm fine with that - because a lot of people's fun experiences involve moving away from home, clubbing, getting drunk and doing things that they couldn't do at home. However, this isn't me. I don't really drink, I'm not a clubbing person at all, and the fear ...

University | What They Don't Tell You!

Image
Hey Guys x As some of you may know, I started university in September last year. I've enjoyed it and also found it really difficult at times. However, I've noticed how different things are, from how I imagined they would be before I started. So I thought I'd fill you in on some of these things and let you know the truth about university! Although I have to point out that this information is directly related to my experiences and might not necessarily be the same as yours. The First Year Isn't All Fun and Games Before going, I thought that the first year was (excuse my language) the fuck-up year, the year where you can make mistakes, not hand in assignments and get drunk every single day. Well, tell this to my tutors because they don't care whether it's your first year or your third year, you're going to work your arse off, get completely stressed out and get the best grades possible... or so they hope! You'll Lose Touch With Old Friends ...

First Month at University | Expectations vs Reality

Image
Hey Guys x As some of you may know, I started university just over a month ago, and so far I'm really liking it! However, so many things are different to the way that I first expected them to be, so I thought that I'd share some of these with you. Of course, these are my own expectations and my own experiences, so if you're currently at uni too, you may not be able to relate, especially if you've left home, as I haven't! The Workload Expectation: I didn't expect the workload to be too heavy. My thought process was: 'People spend the whole of the first year getting drunk, so how can the workload be too heavy?' Reality: Oh how wrong I was! The amount of reading is crazy and was something that I completely didn't expect when I first started! It's not unbearable, but definitely something to be aware of! Social Life Expectation: I thought I was going to meet people who spent all their time drinking and clubbing, and that I would have ...

First Week At University!

Hey Guys x I started university last week, so I thought I'd write a post about my first week and let you know what  got up to! My course is made up of lectures and seminars. For those who don't know, lectures are when everyone doing you course sits in the same lecture theatre and have a lecturer talking to them about a certain topic. A seminar is a smaller group who then discuss what was said in the lecture. So anyway, these are the only things that I have to go in for each week. One thing that my uni did that was really good was that they had a few days before uni began, for people to come in and meet other people from their course. This was really great as it meant that I already knew some people and had friends to meet up with before going to our first lecture. As it was the first week, all of the lectures were introductory lectures, and all the lecturers basically told us the same things! But it was useful for getting us used to going to lectures. Anyway, my a...

University Worries

Hey Guys x So as most of you know, I got into university, which is really exciting! However, as with anything new, there are some things about the process of starting uni that make me really nervous and worried, so I thought that I could share some of my worries with you guys in this post (mostly so you could please tell me that they're all in my head!) Making Friends I don't really have a problem with making friends as such, I always tend to talk to people in  my classes and generally get on with them. However, because I'm staying at home, I kind of feel like I'm going to miss out on a few of the social aspects that come with sharing a home with someone. And, on a more irrational note, I always worry in new social situations whether or not people will like me. However, because my course is so closely linked with writing, I'll probably find people that like writing and books as much as me, which is a comforting thought. Freshers Week/Clubbing Generally (...
