After reading 'The Guest List', by Foley, a few years ago, I instantly became a fan. So when I heard that she had a new book coming out, I pre-ordered it so that I could read it as soon as possible. When Jess goes to stay with her brother Ben in his apartment in Paris, she finds that the apartment is empty and Ben is nowhere to be found. As Jess looks further into her brother's disappearance, she discovers that all of his neighbours seem to have something to hide. I didn't like this book as much as I wanted to. For a start, it didn't need to build suspense so much so quickly. Every second chapter at the beginning of the book for quite a long time ends with a resident saying that they don't like Ben. After a while it feels like 'we get it, let's move onto something else', and it took too long to do so.  Particularly at the beginning of the story, there are so many characters that it can be hard to keep track of who's who. Hey Guys x I've already reviewed another of Foley's books, 'The Guest List', which you can read HERE . But based on how much I absolutely loved that book, I couldn't wait to read this one. A group of old friends get together to spend New Years in the remote Scottish Wilderness. But soon, the group discover that they no longer have anything in common. As tensions grow, friendships break down, and secrets are revealed, things feel like they couldn't get any worse. Until a body is discovered. I really wanted to love this book. Based on the description, it sounded exactly like 'The Guest List'. And while I didn't want to read a repeat of the same book, I was fine with it because I liked the concept. And while I did like the concept, I didn't really enjoy the book that much. I'm really going to try not to spoil it, but I feel like one or two of my criticisms might give a bit of a clue. Hey Guys x I was given this book, along with 'The Hunting Party' (by the same author) by a friend who works in publishing. Because I was given them at the same time, I didn't really think about the order that they were written in, and instead read 'The Guest List' first. A wedding takes place on a remote Island. In a place so isolated, it takes a while for anyone to discover the body. But when histories are brought to the forefront, and relationships are tested in ways that no one could have ever expected, everybody is a suspect. I loved this book. I'm not a quick reader at all, and I read this book in about 5 days because I literally could not bear to put it down, I had to know what was going to happen. To begin with, I loved the concept.
