Book Review #55: When The Curtain Falls by Carrie Hope Fletcher

Image
Hey Guys x Sorry it's been so long since my last review! I spent the month before reading this, re-reading the 'Twilight' book series and falling back in love with it. Yeah, it might be bad or problematic to some, but it's a great piece of escapism and I'm glad that I had the time to read it again. But then, I got started with this one. If you've read my blog in the past, you might know that I'm a huge fan of Carrie Hope Fletcher as a person and a YouTuber, but this is going to be a completely unbiased review. This book is about a play called 'When The Curtain Falls' that is taking place in two different times. The first time the production is done, we follow the love story of Fawn and Walter, an actress and the man that works behind the scenes. Their relationship is kept a secret and the fear of being caught is high. But in the theatre, nothing stays secret for long, and a tragedy happens as a result. 70 years later and the production is ba

To All The Boys I've Loved Before | Film Review

Hey Guys x If you haven't heard about this film within the last two weeks, where have you been?! It's been getting so much press, and is already so popular, that I'm surprised at how many people haven't seen it yet! It's about a girl called Lara Jean Song Covey. When Lara Jean falls in love, with feelings so powerful that she can't contain them, she writes letters. To date, she has written 5, to boys including her sister's boyfriend/ex-boyfriend and her ex-best friend's boyfriend. Lara Jean goes through life being invisible, with not a lot of friends, but she's completely happy watching Golden Girls with her little sister Kitty on a Saturday night. Until the day that her letters get out. Suddenly, Lara Jean's biggest secrets are out in the world, and there's nothing she can do about it... I loved this film! I haven't loved a film this much in ages. First of all, the story felt really relatable to me. Not that I write love letter

Deadpool 2 | Film Review

Hey Guys x Finally I'm reviewing Deadpool 2! Sorry it's taken me so long, I ended up seeing it really late, but I loved the first one, and I love Ryan Reynolds, so of course I was excited to see this. Deadpool's back! Only this time, his mission is a selfless one. After meeting teenage mutant orphan, Russell, he takes pity on the angry boy and tries to protect him. However, when he discovers that Russell is being targeted by Cable, a genetically enhanced soldier from the future, Wade assembles a team of old and new heroes to destroy Cable once and for all. I loved this film! Of course, the main reason that I loved it was the humour. Ryan Reynolds outdid himself with some of the jokes this time around. The thing that is appealing about Deadpool to me is that nothing is off limits in terms of jokes - he was able to reference other Marvel movies, he could even reference DC. And whoever wrote the jokes really knew the audience that they were writing for, so it really

Hey Guys x I remember seeing the first adverts for this and really wanting to see it, mainly because I'm a huge fan of both Jeremy Renner and Ed Helms. They're both funny guys, so having them in the same film should be a recipe for hilarity! The film is about a group of friends who engage in a highly competitive, sometime-dangerous game of Tag every May. However, this year the rules have changed - the only undefeated player is getting married, and makes them all promise that they won't 'tag' him at any wedding-related events. Which means that their time is limited - making the game more competitive than ever! I somewhat enjoyed this film. First of all, it's based on a true story, which instantly made it really sweet and heartfelt to me. If this idea had just come to a screenwriter, they'd probably get laughed out of their pitch of the film. But the fact that this is a thing that really happened between a group of real-life friends is something that

Justice League | Film Review

Hey Guys x This came out so long ago that I wasn't even gonna review it. But I've seen it a few times now, and I know that I have a different view of the film than a lot of the critics out there, so I thought that it might be worth it to add my two cents to the discussion. I'm actually quite a fan of most of the DCEU movies, so I was very excited to see this one. Bruce Wayne, like many superheroes, wants to save the world from any enemies that may rise. But he can't do it alone. So, with the help of Diana Prince, they find themselves a group of superheroes with a common enemy - Steppenwolf, who wants to become the world's most powerful being. Can Steppenwolf go up against Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg? And can the team defeat him without Superman? Now, controversial opinion, I like this film. I mean, obviously it's not flawless in any sense, but not comparing it to anything else, I enjoyed it. For a start, I enjoyed seeing the dyn

Unfriended: Dark Web | Film Review

Hey Guys x Here we have another Blumhouse horror movie. I was a bit disappointed with the last one I reviewed, but nevertheless I was extremely hopeful for this one. I'd seen the first and was looking forward to getting lost in another internet-based story. The film is about a guy called Matias who gets a new laptop and starts to Skype on it with 5 of his friends for their game night. However, during the Skype session, he gets a Facebook message from the owner of the laptop, asking for their property back. As he's about to oblige, he sees another message, offering a substantial cash payment for an unmentioned service. As curiosity gets the better of him, he delves deeper into the world of the laptop owner, and finds things that he definitely shouldn't have seen. But, has Matias put himself and his friends in danger? And will the owner of the laptop ever leave him alone? I really enjoyed this movie! I actually thought it was better than the first one. For a start,

July Favourites | 2018

Hey Guys x I have quite a lot of stuff to talk about today (I saw a LOT of movies in July!), so I'm gonna get straight into it! Favourite Movie (1): Flatliners (2017) This has got a lot of negative reviews, and when it came out it didn't appeal to me at all, so I didn't watch it. Then it came out on Sky and I thought I'd give it a chance, and thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised! It's about a group of medical students who strive to find out about the afterlife by dying and coming back to life. But of course, death isn't something to be played with. I really enjoyed it. I loved the characters, and for such a badly reviewed film, I found myself becoming really invested in the story. So definitely give this a chance if you haven't! Favourite Movie (2): Two Night Stand Again, this is an old film, but one that I only saw this month. And again, I didn't expect to like it that much. I just assumed it would be a bit cliche and boring, so I was so
