Book Review #50: My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella

Image
Hey Guys x Sophie Kinsella is one of my favourite authors in the world so of course I read her new book. The book is about Katie. She has an amazing life. She lives in London (her dream) has a great job with an inspiring boss, and does amazing things every day that make for amazing insta pics. Or so her social media profiles would have you believe. Actually, Katie's life isn't what it seems. Her London apartment is actually a tiny mess, her job is repetitive, her boss is infuriating and her insta pics belong to the life of some other Londoner. But she's sticking it out. After all, living in London is her dream. However, when Katie's infuriating boss Demeter gives her the sack, she can't help but feel incredibly angry. How is it fair for Demeter with the perfect life to single-handedly destroy hers?! So when they cross paths again, Katie has one thing on her mind - revenge. But is Demeter's life as perfect as it seems? That was a long-winded expla...

Book Review #42: Life On The Refrigerator Door by Alice Kuipers

Image
Hey guys x This book is different to most other books that I've read. It's about a mother and daughter whose main way to communicate is to leave each other notes on the door of the fridge. Because of this, the book is literally just the notes that they leave for each other on the fridge door, which means that the book is quite short. I managed to read it in about an hour. And because it was quite short, there really isn't a lot that I can talk about without giving any spoilers, because one major thing takes up the majority of the book and I wouldn't want to spoil it. Nevertheless, this is a good book! The way it was written was so interesting and I find it really interesting that Alice Kuipers was able to capture two different voices so well! There was no point when I was confused about whose note I was reading. I also really liked the character development for both of the main characters. Claire, the daughter, grows up significantly and this is shown reall...

SWIG Hip Flask Review!

Image
Hey Guys x I've never really owned a hip flask, especially as they're usually reserved for alcohol and I only turned 18 in December. However, when the SWIG Hip Flask company contacted me about reviewing one of their products, I thought it would be a really good opportunity. Then, after emailing them, when one of the employees told me that they prefer to drink hot chocolate in their flask than alcohol, I knew that this was a brand that I could really get behind! I got a 'SWIG 'Naked' Flask Gift Set' and couldn't be happier when it arrived! Before I even talk about using it, I just have to comment on how beautiful it is! Both my parents were with me when it arrived and they were both seriously impressed! I decided to get the gift set so that I could see what it would be like if I had sent this as a present to a friend or family member, and I have to say that, if I was sent this as a gift, I wo...

Fifty Shades Of Grey | Film Review

Image
DISCLAIMER: 1. This review will not get sexually explicit at all, so if you're worried about that - Don't be! 2. This review will mention some controversial topics (Such as domestic violence). Please don't read if that's a trigger for you! 3. My opinions on the film may be a bit controversial, but they don't reflect the author, cast or crew of the film. they are just my personal opinions on the film.             On Wednesday, three of my friends and I went to the cinema to see 'Fifty Shades Of Grey'.   My friends had no prior knowledge of the books and I had only read the first 3 chapters so we were all going in basically blind.   I don't want to go into the plot too much, but basically it is about a girl called Anastasia who is in her final year or uni and studying English Literature. One day her roommate Kate is sick, so to help her out, Ana interviews Christian Grey, who is something important to th...

The Fault In Our Stars - Film Review

Image
Last night, me and two of my friends went to see 'The Fault In Our Stars' film. I was so excited and was anticipating that I would cry, kind of like how I felt when I was about to read the book. We saw it 4 days after it came out here in the UK (It came out on the 19th) because we wanted to make sure that we were not in a crowded cinema, as the rustling and whispered talking of the people around you will ruin your viewing pleasure, and we were letting nothing ruin TFIOS.   This was my seat in the cinema just before the film started. I was so excited that I took many pictures, but this one was the only one that was light enough for you to actually be able to see anything!   Obviously I've already written a book review for the book, so I won't waste time by repeating the plot to you, but if you want to know the basic plot, check out my book review by clicking here: http://louleecutie.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/review-2-fault-in-our-stars-by-john.html   ...

1 Month!

Image
I can't actually believe it, but it's been exactly one month since I began blogging and the followers and comments that I have received have been amazing, making me want to continue blogging for as long as I can! I couldn't decide what I wanted to blog about today, but because it's bank holiday, I thought that I would tell you about the things that I have done today. I began my day by logging into my laptop and watching as many YouTube videos as I could. Here are some of my favourites: I then went out for lunch with some family members. It was pouring with rain and the last thing that I wanted to do was to leave my house, but I figured that if you don't get off the sofa once in a while you'll completely miss everything around you. We ended up eating at 'Frankie and Benny's' Being the boring person that I am, I opted for a plain cheese pizza for my main meal. It was completely delicious and I would definitely go there again and get ...

Frozen | Film Review

Image
Calling all Disney fans! Frozen is a film that I watched for the first time a week ago. I had heard good things about it but had accepted the fact that it may not be 'me'. I am a Disney girl at heart but I have been disappointed with the films that the Disney crew have been producing over the past year or so. Frozen surprised me. This is because it was a very good film. From the offset, we get caught up in the story of sisters Anna and Elsa. We see how close they are and it makes everyone wish that they had the relationship that these sisters had. I won't give much away, but things don't stay that way. Meeting favourable characters along the way, the film I a feel-good movie that the whole family will love. Like Mulan and other films, it shows that women are just as capable of saving the day as men, which is good as it tells children not to expect a hero to be there for you every time you stumble. What is good? As I said before, the whole family are...

Book Review #1 - Divergent by Veronica Roth

You need to read this I recently read Divergent by Veronica Roth. It is based on a girl called Tris (Beatrice) who lives in a dystopian society, forced at 16 to make a choice. To choose where she wants to spend the rest of her life. She has a choice between 5 factions that each represent different things: Amity represents kindness/peacefulness, Candor represents honesty, Erudite represents intelligence, Dauntless represents bravery and Abnegation represents selflessness. Born into Abnegation, Tris has to choose whether she wants to stay in her old faction or move into a new one. However, there's a problem. All students are made to take an aptitude test to see which faction best suits them. Tris finds out that she belongs to more than one faction. They call this 'Divergent'. Tris doesn't know why, but this is dangerous. The book shows Tris making her decision, and what the consequences of that decision entail. This is the biggest decision of her life and she doesn...
