Book Review #146: The Daughter by T. M. Logan

When Lauren goes to pick up her daughter Evie from university, she discovers that not only is Evie not there, she hasn't been there for weeks. As Lauren unravels the mystery of where Evie has gone, she soon finds herself and her family in grave danger. I'm always excited for the next T.M. Logan book. He's my favourite author, and I always pre-order his upcoming books. This one in particular had a really interesting premise so I was a bit more excited than usual. This wasn't my favourite of Logan's novels, but I enjoyed it! It was really engaging from the very beginning. A few chapters in I already really cared about the characters and felt completely invested in the mystery. You get to know the characters really quickly, and that makes everything much more interesting. However, it takes a really long time for anything substantial to happen, and even then there are a lot of red herrings that lead nowhere, which ultimately makes the book feel longer than it is. Though...

Book Review #128: The Dream Home by T. M. Logan

Soon after moving into a new house with his wife and children, Adam finds a secret room behind a hidden door. Inside the room is a collection of items that leads Adam on a mission that quickly puts his family in grave danger. Every year I read and review the new T.M. Logan book. I've said many times on the blog that he's my favourite author and after reading this, he's still number 1! I loved this book! Yes, there were a couple of things I'd change, but overall it's one of my favourite of Logan's so far! But starting with things I'd change... the first three chapters. The first felt like a prologue - there was no information given, no character hints, and it just felt a bit weird. The second and third chapters are then used to tell the reader about the hidden room Adam finds. We didn't need three chapters to do that, especially when there's not much in the room at all. For example, there was a large paragraph explaining an older mobile phone (that I...

Book Review #103: The Curfew by T. M. Logan

T.M. Logan has become one of my absolute favourite authors, so far that I pre-ordered this book, and the book before this, because I know there's a good chance that I will love what he writes. I'll also be pre-ordering his next one. When Connor goes into the woods with four friends and misses his curfew, the lives of five families are changed forever. Because five friends entered the woods, but only four came home. I liked the premise of this one more than I enjoyed the actual story. Logan always comes comes up with an interesting premise, and I always want to read his stories. My favourite thing about reading Logan's novel's is his writing style. It has become familiar, and makes his books easy to read. Even when everything was up in the air, the story itself was interesting, and you want to know how it ends. I enjoyed all of the characters, though the voices of the teenagers involved could, at times, feel a bit unrealistic. For me, this was quite a long book, and it i...

Book Review #86: Trust Me by T.M. Logan

I'm a huge fan of T.M. Logan. So much so that I pre-ordered this book based on my love for the three of his that I've already read. I loved the premise, but had no idea where it could go.  When a stranger on a train asks for a favour, Ellen thinks nothing of holding a baby for a busy mother trying to make a phone call. But when that mother exits the train at the next stop, leaving her baby behind, Ellen discovers that the baby in her arms holds the key to a crime. A crime that Ellen is now involved in. This book had a complete 180 U-turn for me. For the first 50 pages, I didn't think I'd like it at all, but I kept reading to find out what would happen next. But for the last 250 pages, I was enthralled and couldn't put it down.      Even in the beginning when I was unsure about the book, I knew that I would keep reading because I absolutely love Logan's writing style. It is the reason why I have loved all the books of his that I've read. Even if I didn't ...
