Black Widow | Film Review

Image
I'm a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so I was always going to review this movie. Black Widow has never been my absolute favourite Avenger, but I'm really glad that she finally has her solo movie - it's long overdue! In the wake of Captain America: Civil War, Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) is on the run. While in hiding, she becomes embroiled in a conspiracy linked to the darkest parts of her life. Now Natasha must reconnect with the people who she once knew as her family, to defeat a long-time enemy.  I loved this movie. I was actually surprised by how much I loved it, because Natasha has never been my favourite character, but this film made me love her so much more than I did before. The opening scene of the film is great. It's exciting, powerful and sets up the character of Natasha, both throughout the MCU and in this film, really well. I loved the dynamic between Natasha and Yelena (Florence Pugh). They were the heart of the film and completely c

Avengers: Endgame | Film Review

Image
Hey Guys x I just got back from the cinema and am writing this pretty much straight away because I wanted to remember exactly how I was feeling right after seeing the film. I've been a huge fan of the MCU for years, and had so many hopes tied into this film. So in the simplest way, this film is a big deal. After the events of 'Infinity War', when Thanos completed his mission of erasing half the world, the remaining Avengers are out of ideas, hopeless, and trying to move on with their lives. But when a small ray of hope makes itself known, the team puts everything on the line to bring back what Thanos took from them. And they'll do whatever it takes to make things right again. Amazing isn't a strong enough word to describe this film. Incredible? Epic? Well, it's all of these things and more. There's so much to say about it, particularly while carefully avoiding spoilers, as the film really is best when you know as little as possible about it.

Thor: Ragnarok | Film Review

Image
Hey Guys x I am a huge superhero movie fan, but in particular, a huge Marvel fan. So of course when this film came out I was so excited to see it. Other then the trailer, I was going in blind. I haven't read the comic books, so I didn't know what 'Ragnarok' meant and was just expecting to see a slightly better than average film that could complete the 'Thor' trilogy and then leave it alone. Boy was I wrong! In the last Thor film, we saw Loki pretending to be his father Odin. So when we return to Asgard in this film, that's what we come back to - Asgard as run by Loki. Of course, this doesn't last long! But then the real threat makes itself known. Hela, the goddess of death, has come to destroy Asgard. But to defeat her, Thor must find a way off of a new planet (Sakaar), and put together a team of people that will be able to destroy Hela for good. To be honest, for how good this film is, that's a really bad explanation. Tru

My Favourite Marvel Movies | Blogmas Day 8

Image
Hey Guys x Of course I was going to do a Marvel themed post at some point, and my movie-based Blogmas seemed like the best time! In this post I'll be ranking the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies, from worst to best in my opinion. I won't be ranking 'The Incredible Hulk' or 'Doctor Strange' because I haven't seen either of them yet. I hope you enjoy this, and if you're not a fan of Marvel, I hope this persuades you to watch some of the movies! 12. Iron Man 2 So, Iron Man 2 is last on my list. I think it's been widely established among MCU fans that this movie wasn't the greatest, and I have to agree. I like the movie, I think the humour is great and obviously the acting is amazing, but as a whole, it doesn't do anything to advance the MCU. This film's villain, 'Whiplash', doesn't really pose that much of a threat, they defeat him quite easily at the end of the film, and I wasn't worried at any point that th

Captain America: Civil War | Film Review

Hey Guys x So, if you regularly read my blog, you'll know how much of a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan I am, and if you follow me on twitter, you'll know that I went to see this movie yesterday. I gave a mini twitter review over the course of a few tweets, which you can see below (read from the bottom up): So I thought that I'd expand on that and give you a lot more detail about the film. And of course, I won't be posting any spoilers because, if I had heard any spoilers before I saw it, it would have completely ruined the experience for me. So if you want to get the best experience, try to avoid spoilers! I'm assuming that if you want to see this film, you have knowledge of the MCU, so I won't waste time explaining characters or anything. So, after a series of events, which have led to the deaths of civilians, the team are being reprimanded by the government. They want the Avengers to be put in check, to have someone to answer to, and for s
