Blogmas 2025!

Image
It's almost time for Blogmas! I really do look forward to this time of year more and more, and a part of that is definitely due to the routine I've created watching and reviewing these Christmas movies. As usual, I'll be reviewing Christmas movies for the 24 days leading up to Christmas, starting from the first of December. They're from a variety of platforms and all made in or after 2020 so hopefully there should be some good ones in there. I'm about to watch day 5 as I write this earlier than usual, and so far the movies haven't been great so I'm really hoping they start to pick up! As always I'll be ignoring my usual ratings in favour of my Christmas rating system: Title (How original? How creative? How fun?) Originality (self-explanatory) Christmas Spirit (Is Christmas integral to the plot, or could the film's events have happened at any time of year?) Christmas Music (again, self-explanatory) And that's it - only a couple days to go! M...

Blogmas 2024!

Image
I feel like I get more and more excited for Christmas and Blogmas every year! In terms of Blogmas, I definitely feel like I've found a tried and tested method that works for me, so as usual I'll be reviewing Christmas movies for the 24 days leading up to Christmas, starting from the first of December. Which means that Blogmas officially begins in 3 days! It's always really fun to pick the movies I'll be watching. I'm not as far ahead at this point in the year as I usually am (I'm currently watching day 7 as I write this), so I hope some of my picks end up being great! As always I'll be ignoring my usual ratings in favour of my Christmas rating system: Title  (How original? How creative? How fun?) Originality  (self-explanatory) Christmas Spirit  (Is Christmas integral to the plot, or could the film's events have happened at any time of year?) Christmas Music  (again, self-explanatory) And that's everything! I'm really excited to get started. My n...

Blogmas 2023!

Image
I can't believe Blogmas has come around again so quickly! It's the last Sunday of November, so Blogmas officially starts next week! My favourite part of the Christmas period has definitely become the film reviews I upload during Blogmas, so I'll be keeping with tradition and uploading a Christmas film review for the 24 days of December leading to Christmas. I'll be taking the movies from a variety of platforms, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Paramount+ and Lifetime, so hopefully I'll find a variety of good ones! As always, I'll be rating movies using my Christmas rating system, but this year I've added a new category to rate movies against, thanks to last year's 'The Christmas Aunt'!. Title  (How original? How creative? How fun?) Originality  (self-explanatory) Christmas Spirit  (Is Christmas integral to the plot, or could the film's events have happened at any time of year?) Christmas Music  (again, self-explanatory) My next pos...

A California Christmas: City Lights | Blogmas Day 23

Image
It's Blogmas day 23! As mentioned in yesterday's post, today's review is the sequel to 'A California Christmas', which I reviewed yesterday. I didn't love the first film, but I was hopeful for the second. A year after the events of the first film, Callie (Lauren Swicard) and Joseph (Josh Swicard) as are happy as they could be. But when obligations pull Joseph back to the city, and Callie with him, they discover that city life could destroy their relationship. Like the first, this film was also a bit 'meh'. I enjoyed seeing the minor characters from the first film that were given a bit more of a storyline this time around. Manny (David Del Rio) and Brandy's (Raquel Dominguez) storyline was adorable. However, this film highlights why Christmas romances are unrealistic - the characters don't know each other, and in this case, weren't that compatible. I also liked both of the characters a lot less this time around. When you see the cracks in th...

Blogmas 2021!

Image
We're a couple of days away from December, which means that it's almost Blogmas! As I have for the last 7(!) years, I'll be doing Blogmas this year. I'll be doing Blogmas the same way I have for the last two years - I'll be uploading a Christmas movie review every day from 1st December to Christmas Eve, so 24 Christmas movie reviews. I'm writing this a week in advance and I'm already behind! So I need to hit the ground running, but I'm looking forward to properly getting started. I'll be reviewing films from Netflix, Amazon Prime and Sky, with a few Hallmark/Lifetime movies included too. As I've done for the last two years, I'll be ignoring my usual star rating for Blogmas. Instead movies will be rated on: Originality  (self explanatory) Christmas Spirit  (i.e. is Christmas integral to the plot, or could the events of the film have happened at any time of year?) Christmas Music   (again, self explanatory)     So that will be my Blogmas. I...

Blogmas 2020!

Image
Hey Guys x It's 28th November, which means that it's almost Blogmas! As usual, I am doing Blogmas - I couldn't miss it.  I thought a lot about how I would do Blogmas this year, as I've tried it a few different ways. Last year, I did 24 Christmas movie reviews, and I have to say that I absolutely loved it, and have such fond memories from last Christmas because of it. So this year, I've decided to do exactly what I did last year - 24 Christmas movie reviews! I'm so excited to get started - this year I feel like I have so much less time to dedicate to movies, but that's another reason why I want to do Blogmas like this. So I'm forced to make time for films. Like last year, I'll mostly be reviewing films from Netflix and Amazon Prime, but I'm gonna be less strict about that this time around - mostly because I don't want to run out of films! Also like last year, I'll be ignoring my usual star rating, instead rating the movies based on: Origin...

My Changes to Blogmas!

Image
Hey Guys x So, I can announce that I am taking part in Blogmas this year! However, I'm not doing it the way I've always done it. Normally, Blogmas is 25 days of Christmas based posts, and that's what makes Blogmas special. However, not only can I not think of 25 Christmas based posts to write, but that's not really how I want to do it this year. I love Christmas, but there are a lot of things at Blogmas that I force myself to post about that I don't really care about, so I don't want to do it like that. This year, my biggest passion without a doubt has been movies - filmmaking, watching movies and actors. So I'm incorporating this into Blogmas. I'm really excited about this idea! So, I will be posting every day for Blogmas. Actually, I'm going to be posting every single day for the entirety of December - so there will be a new post on this blog every day until 2017 which is really fun! On certain days my Blogmas post will be a post...

Blogmas!

Image
Hey Guys x I'm really sorry that I haven't posted in a week, I've had a lot going on, including essays and a hospital visit that I won't get into right now! This year, blogging has been... weird. Especially recently, I haven't been blogging nearly as much as I wanted to be, and I haven't had as many ideas. Because of this, I didn't think I was going to do Blogmas, so I waited until the last minute to make this decision. But, because I have been shockingly awful with posting, particularly in the last two months or so, I am going to do Blogmas. I want to commit to posting every day, but I don't want to promise that I will, and then not. So I promise that there will be 24 Blogmas posts, on Lou's World, within the month of December. I will try my hardest to post every day, but if I can't, I'll still put up all the posts. Like last year, all of my Blogmas posts will be posts that relate to Christmas in one way or another, and I'...

Blogmas Day 24: The End Of Blogmas

Image
I know that most Blogmas' end tomorrow, and I will be posting tomorrow. However, as tomorrow will obviously be a 'Merry Christmas' post, I will not have a chance to talk about blogmas, so I want to do this now. I have been blogging for 8 months (on Boxing Day), and one of the most exciting things that I have done with this blog is blogmas. Committing to blogging every day is tough, and I have to admit that at times it's been really hard. Either I had no idea what to post, or I was really tired and didn't want to post anything. But I did post. Every day. And to be honest, I am really proud that I have managed to post for this long without having a break, and I've had so much fun doing it! I have been reading so many other Blogmas posts, especially those of the girls in the Beau Bloggers community, and I've really enjoyed sharing tags and getting post ideas, it's made  Blogmas really fun! I've also accumulated a few more followers since ...

Blogmas Day 23: The Winter Wonderland Tag!

Image
I saw this tag on Chloe's ( Professional Daydreamer ) blog yesterday, so of course I was going to do it! It's Christmas Eve tomorrow! This not only means that Christmas is 2 days away, but also the end of Blogmas :( I think, although I will probably post on Christmas day, tomorrow  may be the last Blogmas post, but more about that in tomorrow's post! Let's get on with the tag! Favourite thing about winter?   The weather. I love the snow and rain a lot, which may seem really weird, but I like the cold temperature. Scarves or beanies? Scarves, I'm not really a hat person to be honest! Favourite holiday movie? It changes every few days, but right now, Elf! Favourite nail polish? Right now, Fairytale by Tanya Burr. I haven't tried it yet but I think the colour is gorgeous! Name one item on your wish list this year Girl Online - Zoe Sugg. I know that there has been a lot of controversy surrounding the book and whether or not Zoe used a ghost...

Blogmas Day 22: Videos To Get You Excited For Christmas!

Image
I have been watching YouTubers so much this past month, and there are so many videos that have really managed to get me in a festive mood. So I thought I'd show you some of the videos that got me excited, as Christmas is in 3 days! Zoella and Tanya Burr did a Christmas Song Challenge, and hearing the songs and trying to work the songs out alongside them really got me in the mood for Christmas! Niomi (who, this week, hit 1 million subscribers!) made a video making Christmas decorations to put on her tree, and they were so beautiful that they just made me feel really festive and ready for Christmas! Louise (Sprinkle of Glitter) took her daughter Darcy to see Christmas lights, and watching the video just made me really happy. It was really nice watching Darcy see the lights and it made me want to go and see some lights too! This is a video from last year, where Carrie Hope Fletcher and 2 friends (one of which is Jack Howard!) play chubby bunny with Brussels sprouts. ...

Blogmas Day 21: 3 Vegan Christmas Dessert Ideas!

Image
I am not a vegan, I eat meat. However, there isn't any meat in desserts. Because I'm allergic to milk, I thought that the best way to eat desserts and not be ill is to try some vegan deserts. I know that some of you aren't vegans, but even so, you can try some of these desserts, or just substitute milk versions. I've scouted the internet and found 3 of my favourite looking vegan desserts in time for Christmas! I haven't tried any of them, but as Christmas is only 4 days away, I really want to make at least one of them over the Christmas period. Chocolate Chip Mini-Loaves Ingredients: 2 cups whole wheat pastry flour 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/3 cup natural granulated sugar 1 cup applesauce 2 tablespoons safflower or other neutral vegetable oil 2 tablespoons unsweetened non-dairy milk, or as needed 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 ripe pear, any variety, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/4-inch ...

Blogmas Day 20: How To React To Bad Presents!

Image
Of course, all presents have sentimental value, and it's the thought that counts. Nevertheless, we have all had those times when we have to pretend to be really excited about a present that we absolutely hate. So I came up with a few different ways to react when we receive one of these horrible presents. I hope you enjoy my responses! The 'Oh Wow' response This is the one where you pretend that what you have just opened is the best present you've ever received and that you will never a present this amazing for the net 325 years. Cue wide eyes and a mouth that cannot shut. I think this is the reaction that is most appreciated by whoever gave you the present, but it's also the least realistic reaction and your relatives may not even believe it in the first place. The 'Thank You' response This is the response that's the easiest to do. You literally just keep repeating 'thank you' over and over again. It tells your relative that you a...

Blogmas Day 19: Winter Picture Post!

Image
I'm just going to be straight with you guys. I'm writing this the night before because I'm going to be really busy tomorrow (Christmas shopping and doctors), but I just don't feel on point at all. I have a sore throat and I just feel generally unwell, so this post is going to be nowhere near as good as any of the other Blogmas posts so far this month. This is going to be another picture post, via google. I love winter a lot (despite being ill) so I thought I would show you some of my favourite things about winter in picture form. Again, sorry that this isn't as good as my usual posts.             Comment what your favourite picture is.   I promise that tomorrow will not be a picture post!   Sorry again. I'm really not feeling well at the moment, but I hope you still enjoyed looking at these pictures!   It's 6 days Until Christmas!   Come back tomorrow for Blogmas Day 20!
