Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning | Film Review

  Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team race to find an artificial intelligence with the power to destroy the world. I can't say that I was especially excited for this one. I love the Mission Impossible movies, but of them all, the one before this was the only one that I couldn't really remember. So seeing part two of that story wasn't something I was really looking forward to - but I was excited to see the end of the franchise. This film was fine. I didn't love it, and it's definitely not the best of the franchise. But it wasn't bad! For a start, the theme of AI is so relevant to today's world, so it was really interesting to see the film lean into this more than in the first part. The opening of the movie is great - it calls back to the rest of the franchise, it reminds us why we're here and why we love these stories. Mission: Impossible | 100 Movies Bucket List

  I've seen and loved the last four Mission: Impossible movies (and am very excited for the Final Reckoning!), but due to casting changes I was never that interested in seeing the first three. But having said that, I'm glad this one was on the bucket list, because it's really interesting to see how everything began. I didn't expect the film to feel so in sync with the others, particularly because there's only a couple of common characters between them. But this felt no different than any other MI movie, and I loved that. The first 30 minutes of the film took me completely by surprise, so from there I was locked in! The story itself is interesting and engaging, but the best thing about it is the character of Ethan Hunt. We get to know Ethan really well, and because he's such a likeable character, not only are we invested in his story, but we're actively rooting for him. And this is one of the main reasons why the film has become a huge franchise - because we...
