Abandoning My 'To Be Read' List

Image
I've been reading some really interesting books lately, which re-ignited my love of reading.  However, after finishing a book that wasn't that great, then picking up a book that I was actually excited for, reading a page, and deciding that it wasn't for me yet, I decided to halt my reading list. And by halt, what I mean is that I went through my piles of books, found about 5 that I used to love when I was young, and put them at the top of the list. Not only are they shorter than most of the ones on my current list, but they are familiar enough to be comforting, but not enough to be boring. This is strange for me because I never really re-read books.  I used to when I was younger, but now, between writing reviews, and trying to read as much as possible so that I can buy all the new books coming out, re-reading old books, particularly childhood favourites, never really makes sense. But I've uploaded a book review fairly recently, and I have another two written, so I dec...

Not Finishing Books

Image
I've been thinking about finishing and not finishing books for a while, and decided last week to write something about it. I used to feel guilty about not finishing books. So much so that I would always put them down with the page dog-eared, with the intention to go back to them as soon as I was in the mood again. But that time would never come, and not finishing them would be more of an accident than an intention. But in the last year or so, my feelings on this have changed. One of the reasons that I've been going through a slump with reading is because I haven't enjoyed what I've been reading. I've picked up books because they're popular and have rave reviews, and so I feel like I have to finish them so I can understand what everyone else sees in the book. So I've started not finishing books. Putting them down, putting them away, with no intention of picking them up again - at least until I'm so far away from the book that I can't remember why I ...

The YouTuber Book Rant!

Image
( Image Link ) Hey Guys x YouTubers writing books has become a thing within the last 2 years, and it's quite a controversial thing! It's a topic that I've wanted to talk about for a while because I have some quite strong views on it, from both points of view. I also want to get your opinions on it because it's such an interesting topic! So, I am not on any particular side with this debate, because I can see both points of view about YouTubers writing books. I also need to point out that I don't see Carrie Hope Fletcher's book as a 'YouTuber book' - to me, she's an author. I think YouTubers writing books is great - on the one hand, as a viewer. These people have a lot of really young viewers, some as young as under 11. Because of this, these books can be the things that get these children to enjoy reading, which - as a bookworm - I think is really important! And I also think it's a good business. Many celebrities write (or have ...

Blogmas Day 10: Books To Read This Christmas!

Image
Hey Guys x I could not get through 24 days of blogging without talking about books at least once, and day 10 is perfect because we've all got loads of time to get through some Christmas stories! I don't really read Christmas books that much, but there are a few that I am completely in love with, so I'm going to show you them now! Christmas With Billy and Me I love Giovanna Fletcher, as many of you know, so of course this book would be in the list! It carries on from the first story, called 'Billy and Me', where Sophie and Billy and spending Christmas with her mum and new boyfriend. It's such a lovely feel-good story and it'll really get you into the Christmas spirit! Dream A Little Christmas Dream Again, Giovanna has written a second Christmas based short story, and I love it just as much, if not more than, Christmas with Billy and Me. It follows from her book 'Dream A Little Dream' and you find the same group of friends during Christma...

11 Months and a Book Tag!

Image
Hey Guys x   So, as of Thursday, I have been blogging for 11 months! That's amazing!   I was thinking about this the other day, and I thought back to when I first started this blog.   I'll probably reminisce more in a month's time when I hit my blog's birthday (eeek!) but there are a few things that I want to mention now.   My first posts weren't great. To be honest, I cringe looking at them now!   My pictures were all over the place, my design was weird and I had no idea what I was doing! I was just writing to write, and loving it.   But what I've found is that, although my writing style, pictures and design have changed, definitely for the better, my purpose hasn't really changed at all.   I write because I love to write, and because I feel passionate about things.   Blogging is my favourite thing to do, it's amazing to be able to write something that I feel really passionate about, and then get, e...
