I've been watching many videos recently around the topic of being happy in your own skin. I think this is because, although your best friend may tell you how amazing they think you are, it means nothing because they're you're best friend. But when people who have no loyalties towards us tell us how amazing we are, we believe it because they have no reason to lie.
