Marry Us for Christmas | Blogmas Day 16

Hey Guys x

This film is a sequel to the film that I reviewed yesterday, 'Marry Me for Christmas'. It follows the same characters exactly a year on from the last film - on a side note, if you don't want the first film to be spoiled, don't read this review.

After getting engaged last Christmas, Marci (Malinda Williams) and Blair (Karon Joseph) are in the midst of planning their wedding. But with business, moving and work deadlines, they decide to bring their wedding forward - to Christmas!

I actually think that this movie was better than the first one, even though it was a lot more predictable.

First of all, where I found no chemistry in the first film, I found it in the second. The chemistry between Marci and Blair was so present, even through video-chat.

I really like when Christmas movies show what happens after our main couple fall in love, so it was nice to see this here.

I found that the entire Chandler family are a lot more endearing this time around. I didn't love them in the first film, but I was really taken with them in this one. They were a great addition to the film.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say that some of the characters acted like they had personality transplants. This film should have been our first introduction to all of these characters.

Normally, the second storylines in these films feel unnecessary and don't add anything to the overall plot. But this one involved Marci's mum, Stephanie (Victoria Rowell), and it was actually interesting. It also added a lot to the film.

The conflict in this film is the same as most Hallmark conflicts. But the problem with this is that, it's really hard to justify communication issues between an engaged couple. It doesn't make sense. And then there are the issues that come out way too late in the film. Why are we seeing these conflicts play out with only 10 minutes of the film to go?

Having said that, Marci and Blair are a couple that you could see lasting in the real world. They're really endearing and work well together.

It's much more of 'a movie set at Christmas' than a 'Christmas Movie', but at this point most of these Christmas movies are exactly this.

Overall, this is better than the first, but still not the best Hallmark Christmas movie you'll see. Give it a chance if you like a Christmas wedding.
