Operation Christmas Drop | Blogmas Day 3

 Hey Guys x

Happy Blogmas Day 3!

This one is a Netflix movie. It didn't have a premise that I was particularly excited about, but I'm a huge fan of Kat Graham, so I definitely wanted to see it.

Erica (Kat Graham) is a political aide who clashes with Air Force pilot Andrew (Alexander Ludwig) when she tries to shut down his Christmas project, 'Operation Christmas Drop'.

This wasn't my favourite Christmas film, for a variety of reasons.

It kind of felt like the film takes place in the most un-Christmassy location as a way of being an original Christmas film. And while it does work a bit, the premise as a whole isn't original. In fact, it's quite Hallmark.

The characters and the story remain bland for a really long time, and it feels like nothing much actually happens. It takes a while to warm up to them. Not only is this because the story in and of itself is quite boring, but also because Andrew as a character doesn't have much of a personality besides being 'perfect' and 'selfless'.

There is chemistry between the characters, but neither of them are particularly strong characters, and we don't really get to know that much about them. It felt like these two characters wouldn't work together under any other circumstances.

The film's conflict doesn't work because Erica never really had strong convictions. None of the opinions she gives are actually hers, which is why it was so easy for her mind to be changed.

As much as Christmas is mentioned, Christmas songs are sung and they wear Christmas hats, it never really feels like Christmas. I never really believed that it was Christmas.

Overall, this isn't a film that'll get you into the Christmas spirit, so if that's what you look for in Christmas movies, I'd skip this one.

Originality - 5/10

Christmas Spirit - 5/10

Christmas Music - 6/10

It's 22 days until Christmas!

Come back tomorrow for Blogmas day 4!
