Transformers | 100 Movies Bucket List
Transformers is a franchise that I've never crossed paths with. I've never seen any of the movies, I've never known more than a vague description of what it was about, and I've never been particularly interested in seeing it.
Nevertheless, seeing it on the bucket list did make me more intrigued about it than I have been before.
I actually ended up liking the film a lot more than I thought I would.
For some reason I connected to the characters really quickly, and I think that helped. I was invested in their stories almost immediately.
Plus I didn't really know the actors that were in it, so seeing so many recognisable faces was really fun.
In fact, that's how I would describe the whole film - it's a lot of fun. Yes the robot-cars are taken extremely seriously, and yes the stakes are high, but it's a really entertaining watch - and a lot funnier than I thought it would be, but also a lot more emotionally charged. It almost makes you go through every emotion!
The story itself is great - really engaging and you become invested quickly. On paper this movie doesn't feel like it should work but it just does.
The visuals were great; the actual look of the cars and the way they transformed was unique and creative, and the fact that they were able to pack humour and emotions into seemingly inanimate objects was really interesting.
I mentioned in my 'Bad Boys' post that I had another two Michael Bay movies to review and, like Bad Boys, the action level in this film works really well.
This isn't a movie that I probably would have ever watched on a whim, so I'm really really glad it was on the bucket list because I had such a good time!
