Girl Talk: First Kisses

Have you had your first kiss?

I know that many girls between the age of 13 and 18 worry about their first kisses. The biggest worry? That they haven't had it yet.

It's normal to worry about not having your first kiss, most girls do. We want to have the best story to tell our friends, we want our first kiss to be with the greatest guy, the guy that will make all of our friends extremely jealous and wish that their story was a good as ours. But if this is the case, why are we so worried about it as such a young age? Why do we think that we're going to meet the perfect guy before we even reach adulthood? Our first kiss is something that we are going to remember forever. A story that we'll tell over and over again, well into elderly life. So why are we rushing to just get it done, when it could be the first romantic moment that we ever have?

According to statistics, in the UK, 14 is the average age that a girl will have her first kiss, and 15 for a boy. This means that people in secondary schools are becoming anxious about the thought of having their first kiss with a guy that they know, and this could result in peer pressure. Girls especially may feel that, if all their friends have had a kiss, they're falling behind and may never get a boyfriend. I don't understand why having your first kiss early takes precedence over having a special first kiss.

How to make your first kiss special:

- Be friends first: This is something that I think is really important. Don't kiss a guy just because you feel like you should. If you like a guy, talk to him. Try to find out what his interests are and be his friend. This way you can find out if he's the person that you really want to kiss.

-Don't rush: Who cares if all your friends have had their first kisses? You don't have to prove anything to anyone. Kiss someone who you like, when you're sure that you're ready.

-Make the story fun: Most people have an embarrassing first kiss. Whether it's a nose bump or a tongue situation, you have the ability to make the story funny. As I said before, you'll be telling this story for years to come, so make the best of a bad situation

-The later the better: Who ever has the most romantic and special first kiss story at the age of 14? The older you are, the better you'll remember your kiss and the more special it will be.

I hope this post has given you some useful information, or at least made you reminisce about your first kisses.

  1. I'm 17 and never been kissed. Actually, I've never even been asked out... it makes me sad sometimes but then I remember that I still have all that exciting stuff to come! I'm ready, but I'm also willing to wait until its right. So anyone at 14/15 has nothing to worry about! xxx
