Random Acts of Kindness

How kind are you?

I was thinking all day about what to write a post about today, which is why this post is so late. Listening to the radio, I remembered that within the last few weeks, it was 'Random Acts of Kindness' day (I'm not sure when exactly, let me know in the comments), but it made me think.

Why do we need a special day to be kind to each other?

I think that it would be nice if people did at least one act of kindness every day. However, I am in no way saying that this is something that I do. It's hard to do this all the time, especially when the only people around you are people that you hate (such as at school).

Carrie Fletcher started something along this theme called 'The Hopeful Notes' (twitter @thehopefulnotes) where she encouraged her viewers to leave post-it notes around the country with nice messages on them, for another Hopeful to find and tweet about. I thought this was a great idea as it encouraged people to think of nice things to leave for total strangers to find.

So, my message for you, is to take this week (Half-term for a few of us!) and do some random acts of kindness, then comment them below or tweet them to me (@louleecutie).

Here are a few ideas for random acts of kindness:

- Smile at a stranger

Something as simple as smiling can really make a person's day. You don't know what anyone around you is going through, but smiling at them can help them a little big along the way.

-Compliment someone

Another thing that can make someone's day. Complimenting someone can make them feel really good about themselves. Even something as simple as 'I like your shoes' can make someone feel that they are doing something right.

-Leave a Hopeful Note

Even if you're not particularly a fan of Carrie Fletcher, you have to admit that her idea is a good one. Get a pack of post-it notes and leave them around for someone to find, with a nice note written on them. It may make someone smile while they're having a bad day, and you might meet a fellow Hopeful!

-Offer your help

Even if they don't want it, everyone can do with a bit of help one way or another. Even if you just ask: "Are you ok?", it may let the, know that you care, that you're there for them.

So, as I said, make it your mission to complete one of these 'Random Acts of Kindness', and find a way to tell me all about it!

Thank you for reading.
