Ghostbusters (1984) | 100 Movies Bucket List

Next up for the bucket list was a first-time watch.

The only version of Ghostbusters I've ever seen is the 2016 reboot, and while I enjoyed it, it didn't make me want to see the original at all, so I never did.

The first thing that struck me while watching this was how much the reboot took from it! I knew it was the same story, just updated, but so much of it felt like a shot-for-shot remake. It actually made me like the reboot a bit less knowing that it wasn't as original as I assumed it was.

But as for my thoughts on this movie alone, it was good. I didn't love it, but I didn't love the reboot either. The story itself isn't one I love, so I knew this wouldn't be a favourite.

For its time, this film was really original and inventive for the sci-fi and comedy genres. The plot was interesting, it was well-written, the cast was great, and I completely understand why it's considered a classic.

So even though it wasn't 100% for me, I definitely get why it's beloved.

Bridget Jones ( Renée Zellweger)  is back, and navigating life as a single mother and widow when she unexpectedly finds herself getting back into the dating scene. Platoon | 100 Movies Bucket List

  Next up for the bucket list was a first-time watch. There are fewer war/military-based movies on this year's bucket list compared to last year, which I'm kind of happy about because it's not my favourite genre. That being said, I'm glad that the ones included are classics, as I probably wouldn't have watched them otherwise, and this one is no different! I didn't know much about this film other than hearing about it in passing. So I was really surprised to see the cast! There are so many iconic actors in this film - including Willem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker, Charlie Sheen, Keith David and Tony Todd, and they were all amazing in their roles. I've read that the film is based on the writer/director's real experiences and this makes sense because the film feels really authentic and real. Where Rainbows End vs. Love, Rosie | Film and Book Review

I've just finished reading 'Where Rainbows End' by Cecelia Ahern, and immediately had to watch the movie version, 'Love, Rosie'. The reason that I've decided to talk about them together, as opposed to only reviewing the book, is mainly because I didn't have enough to say about the book on its own to justify reviewing it. Alex (Sam Claflin) and Rosie (Lily Collins) have been best friends since childhood. But when they turn 18 and their paths start to diverge, they realise how much they need each other. I love the idea of this story. Whether in book or movie form, the idea of childhood best friends realising that they were always meant for each other is something that I'm really into. The book version of this story is written entirely of notes, emails, letters, instant messages and any other type of written media, and I loved this. Book Review #87: The Shelf by Helly Acton

  I think the first time I heard about this book was in an Instagram Story from Carrie Hope Fletcher (who provides one of the cover quotes). Since I liked the idea of the premise, I looked it up and saw that it had a lot of good reviews, so I moved it to the top of my to-read list. When Amy's boyfriend of two years plans a surprise holiday, she thinks that she's finally getting the proposal she's been waiting for. However, Amy soon discovers the truth - she has been dumped on live television, on a reality show called 'The Shelf'. There, Amy and five other women must compete to be crowned 'The Keeper'.  I could not stop reading this book, but at the same time, I'm not sure if I loved it. It took me quite a while to get into the narrative voice. While I prefer reading books written in the first person, I don't mind the third person.
