My Filmmaking Idols! | Blogmas Day 21

Hey Guys x

I have to say, daily blogging is really beginning to take it's toll! I'll stick it out for the rest of December, but I really hope next Blogmas (if I do it) is a lot easier!

Anyway, today I thought I'd tell you about some of my filmmaking idols - the people who do their jobs well and aspire me to follow in their footsteps.

Let me know who some of your career idols are in the comments!

JJ Abrams
JJ Abrams is on this list because, simply, he makes good stuff. But in addition to that, he is really passionate about the projects that he takes on - you can tell! I've seen a lot of interviews with him from when he directed the first two Star Trek movies ('09 and Into Darkness) and it's clear how much he loves his job and how much fun he had making them, as well as how hard he worked. But in addition to that, the cast of those two films could not stop raving about him and saying how good he was as a director, which just tells you how awesome he is!

Simon Pegg
Simon Pegg has had an amazing career so far! He inspires me so much because, not only is he a great actor, but he has written/co-written so many of the films that he's starred in, and he's also produced a few of them! He successfully makes the transition between actor and writer, he's in some of the biggest franchises of our generation, and he's just really really talented! I hope to one day be even half as talented as he is.

Robert Downey Jr
Of course, his acting ability is second-to-none. But the reason that RDJ is in this list is basically because he took the initiative to start his own production company with his wife Susan Downey, called 'Team Downey'. Susan is a producer anyway, but I just love the commitment to his craft. Also, the film that they've made with this production company, The Judge, was amazing! I can't wait to see what their next projects are!

Joss Whedon
Forget about the fact that he wrote and directed both 'Avenger's' movies - Joss Whedon has written, produced, directed and created so many TV shows and movies. I just went on his filmography and was honestly surprised at all that he's managed to achieve in his career. He is an ultimate inspiration to me because he has managed to build an extremely successful career without ever having to be in front of the camera! Honestly, he has my dream career.

James Wan
James Wan is my horror movie idol. He has directed and produced the movies that I watch over and over again, and has really made a name for himself, especially amongst horror lovers. When I tell you that his directorial debut was 'Saw', you'll understand what I mean. He's got many great movies coming up in 2017 and I can't wait to see them all because I know that, if he's involved, they're going to be amazing!

Hazel Hayes
Last but not least, Hazel Hayes. She's the first female on this list, which could say something about the film industry right now, but Hazel is representing for all of us females who want to go into a male-dominated profession. Hazel inspires me to not just give up because there's not a lot of women who do what I want to do for a living, and she also proves that women can be just as amazing as men when it comes to filmmaking!

Thank you for reading.

It's 4 days until Christmas!

Come back tomorrow for Blogmas day 22!
