Hey Guys x

I know that this came out ages ago, but I didn't get to see it until recently, so I thought I'd throw my metaphorical voice into the fray of reviews for this movie and give you my take on it.

The first movie, as you may know, is about a girl called Sophie who is getting married, and invites the three men who could be her father to her wedding.

This movie takes place in two different timelines. On the one hand, we are watching Sophie renovate her mother's Greek hotel for its reopening, wondering if her life choices, and her choices for the hotel, are making her mother proud. She reunites with her mother's friends, and her three fathers, to make the event go as smoothly as possible.
In the other timeline, we see her mother Sophie just after she graduated from university. On a whim, she decides to come to Greece - where we see her meet Sophie's three fathers, and deal with the fact that she was pregnant, alone and heartbroken in a foreign country. What happened to turn young Donna into the mother that Sophie knows and loves?

The first movie has become somewhat of a modern classic. It had an original concept, with songs that many of the audience members already knew and loved. It can be watched over and over again without getting bored because you can sing along and discover something different each time.

With this sequel, the film rightly represents itself as something fun that has the backdrop of some serious events, such as pregnancy and leaving home. While the first one was a lot about the songs, this one was definitely using the songs to tell a story, rather than the other way around.

In particular, the 'Young Donna' story-line was the most interesting part the film. Because we already knew her from the second movie, It was interesting to see exactly what happened that made her that way. Before the film begins, you want to know how she met each of Sophie's fathers, and how she went through her pregnancy alone. In fact, one complaint of the film would be that it would have been particularly touching to see more of Donna's pregnancy story.

Of course, there's no point even talking about this movie without mentioning the amazing music. Particular standouts include: 'One Of Us', 'My Love, My Life', 'Waterloo' and 'I've Been Waiting For You', but there are so many more amazing songs that you should definitely listen to.

If you haven't seen this, definitely see it - it's amazing!

Lou
