The Changeling | 100 Movies Bucket List

I hadn't heard of this movie previously, and it wasn't until I put it on that I actually looked at the premise. I love traditional horror and this seemed like it was going in that direction, so I immediately wanted to get into it.

I have mixed feelings about this film.

For me, one of the most underrated forms of horror is hauntings, especially haunted houses. The ideas can be quite simple, but there's so much to play with and explore. There are so many amazing movies that use this concept, some of which I've really loved.

I also liked the mystery element. It's really engaging to watch the characters try to solve the mystery of the house, especially because we want to find out the truth too.

The movie itself is quite slow. Things take a while to happen, and the instances of hauntings start small. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if your attention isn't captured at the beginning of the film, it may take a while to really gel with the story.

Though the story is an interesting one. When we start uncovering what really happened, the explanations make sense and feel realistic.

The actors are great. One of the reasons that the story is engaging is that we're interested in the characters and what will happen to them.

For me personally, my interest did dip in and out, especially in the middle of the film. I still wanted to know how it was going to end, but I wasn't as interested in where the story currently was.

So overall, while I liked the final product, and appreciated the story, it didn't grab me and hold my attention for as long as I wanted it to.
