Hey Guys x

Welcome to my first post of 2017!!

I decided to start with a book review because, 2017 is about getting my blog exactly where I want it, and only posting about things that I really want to talk about. I did this in 2016 and want to do it even better this year! And that meant getting back to basics and posting a books review (which I haven't done since August, sorry!)

I held off reviewing this earlier because I gave it to a friend for Christmas and didn't want her to know anything about it (she finished it in a day and loved it), but it's possibly one of the best books I've ever read!

It's about a woman called Sue Jackson, who is distraught when her daughter Charlotte gets hit by a bus and ends up in a coma. But when the driver informs her that Charlotte deliberately tried to end her life, Sue knows that something isn't quite right. In her hurry to discover the mystery surrounding the accident, she has to open the door to a lot of past skeletons that were previously hidden away, and discovers more about herself and her daughter than she ever felt possible. But, was Charlotte's accident really not an accident? And does Sue's past have anything to do with it?

This book is incredible.

If you're not a big reader, make this the book you read this year, I could not recommend it highly enough.

Sue is a character that I don't normally read about. I tend to be attracted to books where the protagonist is like me - in my age range if nothing else. Sue is an older woman who's had life's fair share of problems and I didn't know if I'd be able to connect with her. But I really did, I connected with every part of her and I was rooting for her from the first chapter. She made mistakes, did stupid things, wouldn't leave well enough alone and said the wrong things all the time, but I loved her. She did everything she could for her daughter and that was really admirable.

As a huge fan of horror movies, I've always wondered how anyone could capture that tension and suspense in the written form - I've tried my hand at it and so far it's proven to be unsuccessful! But C. L. Taylor did this amazingly, I felt like I was watching a movie, which is why I couldn't put the book down! You have to have real talent to be able to write like that and she did a phenomenal job!

What was good?
There were twists. There was a twist around every corner, I thought I'd guessed what happened to Charlotte so many times and each time I was wrong. The secret was kept so under wraps that at some points I didn't even want to know what it was, because I was enjoying the story itself so much! But trust me, you won't be able to guess the whole twists until near the end, and that's the best kind of thriller novel!

What was bad?
The only bad thing was that, there weren't a lot of characters that I actually liked. Apart from Sue's step-son Oli and, to some extent, Charlotte's friend Keisha, I didn't really like anyone. But the good thing is that, it didn't really make that much difference to the story. If anything, not liking the other characters was a good thing because I was on Sue's side even more than I would have been anyway.

Overall
Read this book! Then force everyone else you know to read it! Then review it and put that review on the internet for all to see because it's JUST THAT GOOD. I can't get over how good it was and I want to read it again, even though the end will be ruined for me now! I've bought another of Taylor's novels, The Lie, and I can't wait to get stuck into that!

Thank you for reading!
