My October Playlist!

Hey Guys x

I love doing these playlist posts, and try to do them once a month when I have a lot of new music to gush about!

And the end of September was a month for great music for me!

So these are some of the songs that I've spent October listening to!

Birdy - Wings (Acoustic)


I mentioned this song in my October Favourites post a few days ago, and I'm still loving it just as much! Both the song itself and her voice are beautiful and I could listen to it again and again without getting bored!


Beyoncé - Move Your Body


I know that this is an old song, but I've been listening to it and watching the music video so much that I couldn't not include it! How she dances like she does with the heels that she wears, I will never know, and never be able to achieve! Not to mention, like always, her voice is amazing!


Carly Rae Jepsen - I Really Like You


Another song that I'm obsessed with. She got Tom Hanks and Justin Bieber to be in this video with her, how cool is that?! But as well as that, it's just such a catchy song, you can't help singing it once you hear it. And now I can't stop singing it!


Iggy Azalea ft. Jennifer Hudson - Trouble


I love this song so much! I've not always been the biggest fan of Iggy Azalea, but this song is just so great, especially Jennifer Hudson's chorus, which I love! But for me, the music video is the thing that I love the most, the prison theme is so cleverly done!


Jessie J - Masterpiece


The lyrics of this song are so beautiful, I love them so much! I actually did a post about the lyrics, called 'Perfectly Incomplete' about a month or so ago because the lyrics mean a lot to me, and Jessie J's voice is so perfect in this song!

    I love I Really Like You and I think the video is so cute! I've not listened to much this month which is a rarity: Honey, Honey (Abba); The Devil in I (Slipknot); Human (The Killers) and Mrs Potato Head (Melanie Martinez).

    thanks for the suggestions! I love listening to Birdy, I haven't listened to that song yet though, I'll definitely check it out. I also like I Really Like You, I've listened to other covers of it too it's pretty catchy haha

When ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse, he soon finds that his past is quickly catching up to him. I've never seen the original Road House, and when I put this one on I wasn't really planning to review it, but I found myself really getting into it. I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Both the characters and the story were a lot more engaging and compelling than I thought they would be. The story sucked me in right from the beginning and I was interested the whole way through. The cast is great, but Jake Gyllenhaal completely carries the film and plays the character of Dalton really well. Again, I can't compare his performance to the original, but I really like the character. The fight scenes, which are pretty much what the film is about, are done really well. They're entertaining, but they also do a good job of moving the story forward. I think the reason I liked the film so much was because I didn't take it

The Matrix | 100 Movies Bucket List

  Next up for the Bucket List was a first-time watch. This is one that I had obviously heard of but knew next to nothing about. I found that it took a long time for me to connect with the story, and even then, while the film was interesting to watch, I never felt particularly invested in it. There were a lot of recognisable, iconic moments that I appreciated, and I get how much of an impact it had on sci-fi (and probably movies in general), but I don't know if it was for me. I somewhat enjoyed it, I understood everything that happened, but never felt connected, and didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. It could just be that I need to re-watch it, and I probably will, but for a first watch, I didn't take to it as much as I wanted to. But that being said, I'm glad I finally watched it!

Scarface (1983) | 100 Movies Bucket List

Next up for the Bucket List was another first-time watch! I'd seen the original 1932 film years ago and really liked it, but I never got around to watching this (undoubtedly more popular) version, so I'm glad it was on the list. I really really liked this movie. I'm not sure if I like it more than, or the same as the original, but I definitely had a great time with it. One thing about finally seeing all these classic movies is seeing how much impact they've had on pop culture, and this film is definitely no exception. It's so quotable, there are so many iconic images, and it's one that everyone should watch if they haven't seen it before. The most talked-about aspect of this film is probably the violence, and that's so interesting to see. Not only the way it's spoken about, but also the difference between violence in older films like this and newer releases. My Problem With '8 Simple Rules'

Hey Guys x Today's post might come out as more of a rant, which I'm OK with because I haven't ranted about something in a while! Last year, I started watching the show '8 Simple Rules' when it started playing on Comedy Central. It originally came on between 2002 and 2005 but I didn't watch it when it was first on. Anyway, I really got into it. There were only three seasons, so it was over before I wanted it to be. And I loved this show, and I still love it. Comedy Central doesn't play it anymore but if it did I would dive right back into it because I love a good sitcom. However, I have a major gripe with a plotline of the show, that got more prominent in season 2/3. Let me just explain the characters a bit, so you know who I'm taking about in case you never watched it. If I Stay | Film Review

Hey Guys x This film is also a book, which I reviewed here last September. I saw this film for the first time a couple of weeks ago when it came on a Sky Movies for the first time. I had always wanted to watch it because I really enjoyed reading the book. But I have to say - and this is probably the only time I'll ever say this - the film was so much better than the book! It's about a girl called Mia who lives with her parents and younger brother Teddy. The film shows two completely different times. On the one hand, it shows Mia's life leading up to the main 'incident' of the film, and on the other hand, it shows everything that happens after the incident. In the film, Mia has to make some really tough decisions. I don't want to give too much away, but the main decision is whether she should stay or go, and there are a lot of reasons to do both, which is hard to digest, especially for a 7 year old.
