Taxi (1998) | 100 Movies Bucket List

I had never heard of this film before seeing it on the list, and even when I put it on I didn't really know what it was about.

Compared to last year when there was quite a few foreign movies on the bucket list, this is one of only a couple.

I enjoyed this film. I didn't love it, and it's not really one that I would watch again, but I had more fun with it than I thought I would.

It took me a little while to really get into the story, but what helped was that I liked the main character almost instantly.

Not only is he a somewhat-underdog character that you can really root for, but he's just really likeable and fun. In fact, it was a bit annoying at the beginning when the film spent a lot of time on the characters that we didn't know or care too much about.

But in saying that, one of the reasons I didn't get into the film as quickly as I wanted to was because I didn't really like (or care about) any of the other characters.

The movie is only 1 hour 25 mins, and the filmmakers make really good use of the time they have. Everything moves really fast, from the driving to the dialogue. At times it feels like an effort to try and keep up.

It takes a while to really get into the main plot, which is unexpected for a film of this length. For the first 30 mins it feels like you're waiting for something to happen, but enjoying the journey nevertheless.

But when the film actually does get going, it turns into a buddy-comedy, and I loved that! The actors worked together really well and the characters had fun chemistry.

It definitely gets more fun and entertaining the more you watch. And while I wouldn't say this is one of the best films of any genre it fits into, it's definitely a fun way to spend 90 minutes.

This isn't a film I probably ever would have watched without it being in a bucket list, so I'm really glad it was!
