Secret Window | 100 Movies Bucket List

I saw this film for the first time years ago, and while I didn't remember any specific plot details, I remembered liking it, but also being a bit disappointed (though I couldn't remember why).

I was surprised to see it on the list. When I first watched it, I watched it because it had an interesting premise, not because it was considered a classic in any way. And to be honest, I haven't really thought about it since that first watch.

I thought this movie was great. Really intriguing and mysterious all the way through, and quite a fun watch too.

One of the best things about it is the tension between the two characters. You're on the edge of your seat during each of their interactions, not knowing what will happen next. And this gets more tense as the film continues.

The fact that it's only 90 minutes long makes it really engaging. Everything that happens is completely necessary so you don't want to look away for a second. I didn't remember it being as entertaining as it was this time around.

It's also really compact. It takes place mostly in one location, closely following the main character, and this allows you to really connect to everything that's happening - you feel like you're right there with them.

Speaking of the main character, the film does an interesting thing of connecting us with him and making us like him while continuously doubting whether or not we can trust him.

The closer we get to the conclusion, the more intense and thrilling everything gets. I found myself actively wishing for things to go quicker just so I could see how everything concluded.

And while I couldn't remember the ending from my first watch, I completely guessed it from really early on. I don't know if it's just really predictable, if it was in my subconscious or if I've just seen too many movies like this, but a random thought near the beginning of the film is exactly what was happening.

But even then I really liked what they did with it, and I was still thoroughly entertained until the credits rolled.

So overall, while I'm not sure I'd put this on a list of classic movies, it's a really compact, fun film that I'd definitely recommend, whether it's a classic or not.
