The Wolf of Wall Street | 100 Movies Bucket List

Next up was a re-watch.

I watched this film for the first time a couple of years ago and really liked it, so I was happy (and also surprised) to see it was on the bucket list for this year.

Thankfully I liked it as much this time as I did the first time, maybe even more.

The main reason I watched the film in the first place, other than being a fan of Scorsese, was the amazing cast! The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, Kyle Chandler, Jon Bernthal, Jon Favreau, Cristin Milioti and Matthew McConaughey and they all do an amazing job with their characters.

And because of how good the performances are, everything feels so real and authentic. You really believe everything is really happening because you believe that the actors are their characters.

I can't get over the performances. DiCaprio is at his best in this movie and the fact that it was Robbie's breakout role is insane!

But another reason the film is so believable and seems authentic is because of the writing. Even when the characters are saying the most ridiculous, outlandish things, things you don't even understand, you're completely invested the whole way through.

Jordan Belfort is a really interesting character, particularly because of the way he develops throughout the movie. I'm not sure how much of the movie is true to the real life story, but just from a fiction standpoint the way he is written, the way we see every aspect of his life deteriorate one by one, is fascinating.

It's really interesting to watch a 3hr or more movie that doesn't have a dull scene or any moments you'd cut out. A lot of the time with longer movies scenes feel either elongated or just altogether unnecessary, but this film doesn't have a dull moment, and there's nothing I'd cut out of it. The time flies by!

This is a really fun movie. I'm not sure it's usually described that way but I had a lot of fun watching this the second time around. Knowing what's going to happen allowed me to fully sink into the story. I enjoyed watching the crazy debauchery as much as I enjoyed watching things spiral out of control. Plus, there are so many genuinely hilarious moments!

So although I was surprised to see this film on a bucket list, it absolutely deserves its place. It's a really well-made, interesting movie that's definitely worth a couple of watches at least!
