3 Month Favourites | January - March 2026

It's time again for my first favourites post of the year!

Favourite Movie (1): Oscar Nominees

The first two months of the year were spent trying to catch up on every Best Picture nominee before the Oscars in March, and after the Oscars, a couple of re-watches. So I saw almost all of these movies either again or for the first time between January and March, and it reminded me all over again how good last year was for movies!

Favourite Movie (2): Good Boy

I'll be putting up a review of this one soon, but I really loved this film - I think moreso because I'd been told that it was bad. So I went in with low expectations and was really pleasantly surprised! It's definitely worth a watch, particularly for horror fans.

Favourite Movie (3): Dressed to Kill

I've been enjoying my horror-themed bucket list so much this year, and this was the first of the bucket list movies to get 5 stars, so it had to be included in this post. I wrote about it HERE  and I can't wait to give it a re-watch and see if it's still as good!

Favourite TV Show (1): Shining Girls

I started watching this show on a whim, wanting to see more of Wagner Moura's filmography after loving The Secret Agent, and I was really pleasantly surprised by it. I didn't look too much into what it was about, but twists in the first episode alone had me hooked. While I didn't love everything about it, I loved it as a whole and am now re-watching it (when I should really be starting something new!), so that says something!

Favourite TV Show (2): I Know This Much is True

I've been getting into quite a few limited series recently and this one is near the top of the list in terms of quality. Again I didn't know much about it but by the first episode I was hooked. The best thing about this one for me, other than the great writing, is the performance. Mark Ruffalo is amazing in this and plays two characters incredibly well. I'm so happy that he was awarded for his performance at the time because he certainly deserved it and more!

Favourite Song (1): Die on this Hill

I feel like everyone is obsessed with this song right now, so it's probably not a huge surprise that it's on here, but I love it. I listen to it on repeat and get something different from it each time.

Favourite Song (2): Nightingale Lane

I heard this song while watching a music award show and after hearing it once I knew that it was one I'd also have on repeat. It's such a beautiful song, sung phenomenally by Raye and I can't imagine a time when it won't be in any playlist I'm listening to.

Favourite Actor (1): Wagner Moura

Thanks to his Oscar nomination pushing me to see The Secret Agent, I have become a huge fan of Wagner Moura. I knew him before his nomination due to being a fan of the show Narcos, where his performance was amazing, but I never really paid attention to him outside of that show until now. I'm having such a good time going through his shows and movies because he's amazing at what he does, and I can't wait to see what he does next.

Favourite Actor (2): Mark Ruffalo

I've been a huge fan for a long time, but I've ended up watching so many of his movies and shows this year and have continued to be a huge fan. He's an incredible actor, and someone that I always look forward to seeing when he has something new out. I haven't caught up with his newest movie, Crime 101, yet but it's next up on my to-watch list!

Favourite Book (1): Bury Your Gays

I'm putting up a review of this one at some point but I picked it for close to the beginning of the year because I loved the premise, though I was a bit unsure about how it would be executed. Thankfully I loved it - definitely the best book I've read this year so far, and already has early potential to be the best of the year!

Random Favourite: The Last Five Years

As a fan of musical theatre, The Last Five Years, Rachel Zegler and Ben Platt, I was so happy to be able to see this show last week during the short run. Both Rachel and Ben were phenomenal, their voices were so amazing it was unreal. And if this wasn't recorded and we never get to see it on screen, I'm so happy I got to see it live!

And those are my first favourites of the year!
