Merry & Gay | Blogmas Day 2

It's Blogmas Day 2!

This film is called 'Christmas With Love' on Prime, where I watched it, so it wasn't until after watching it that I realised it has a completely different name! So I've gone with Merry & Gay, which is a much better title anyway.

Broadway star Becca (Dia Frampton) goes home to her small town for Christmas and soon realises she is falling back in love with her childhood sweetheart Sam (Andi Rene Christensen).

I didn't like this that much. It's not the worst Christmas movie I've seen this Blogmas, but it's also not one of the best (and at the time of writing this I'm only 6 movies in).

Even for a Hallmark-style Christmas movie, the acting wasn't great. It took me a long time to believe anything the characters said or did.

Speaking of the characters, they were likeable enough but I didn't really care about them at all, and after a while I became a bit bored of their lives.

It wasn't very festive, and at times didn't even feel like a Christmas movie. In fact, there was a point in the last 20 minutes where it kind of turned into a weird serious drama, especially with the odd music choices!

The only realistic thing about the film (to a point) was the conflict. But it was resolved way too quickly!

Overall, there are definitely similarly-themed movies with better plots out there. Especially because this one is barely a Christmas movie.

Title - 2/10 for 'Christmas With Love', 6.5/10 for 'Merry & Gay'

Originality - 3/10

Christmas Spirit - 2/10

Music - 5/10

It's 23 days until Christmas!

Come back tomorrow for Blogmas day 3!
