Godzilla (1998) | 100 Movies Bucket List

I've seen this film before, though I can't remember the last time I saw it and had no memory of any of the events before this re-watch!

I'm pretty sure seeing this film when I was way too young (along with the 2005 King Kong) ignited my love of creature features, so I'm really happy it was on the bucket list!

While this is a fun movie, I completely understand why it wasn't as well-received as it could have been, especially when it first came out.

For a start, while I enjoyed all the scenes with Godzilla, the visual effects left a lot to be desired. Not that Godzilla movies have ever been the height of realism, but this one certainly isn't one of the more realistic ones.

The problem I tend to have with films like this is that my interest starts and ends with the creature. So when over half the movie is filled with scientific jargon trying to discover the creature's origins or how to destroy it, I just don't care.

And because of that, this film felt a lot longer than it needed to be. Even if it had more Godzilla, 2hrs 20mins is a long run-time for a creature feature.

It didn't hold my attention for as long as I needed it to, but it had some really fun moments.

So even though I didn't love it, I'm glad it introduced me to creature features and I'm really glad I got to re-watch it after such a long time!

New Captain America, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), finds himself at the centre of an international disaster. But can he find the true mastermind before it's too late? It was particularly great seeing Mackie, Ramirez and Lumbly reprise their roles from the 'Falcon and the Winter Soldier' TV show. Mackie and Ramirez had great chemistry, which was really fun to watch. But as good as the actors were, it would have been nice to get to know some of these characters a bit better, especially if you never saw the show. The story was genuinely an interesting one...

Hey Guys x For most of us, it's getting to the time now where we're revising for our exams! It's such a stressful time, we have so much to cram into out heads and not a lot of time to do it in. And then, that's it. When we write the last word, exams are finished and our futures are determined... for some of us anyway! So rather than do a serious post about exams (because we don't need that right now!) I thought I'd write about the most awkward situations in exams! The 5 Second Rule

Hey Guys x As you can see from the picture, I'm not going to be talking about eating food from the floor (aka, the usual 5 second rule). Instead, I'm talking about something different. I read about something in a magazine (I think!), and I've since dubbed it the 5 Second Rule. Basically, the rule is: Don't point out something about someone's appearance unless they can change it in 5 seconds. In other words, you can point out that someone hasn't done up their shirt buttons correctly, but don't point out that they haven't ironed said shirt. Or, you can point out that someone should pull down their skirt, but don't point out that the reason that the skirt is riding up is because they need to lose weight. See? It's that easy! Body Shaming

Hey Guys x The issue of body shaming has come up a lot in the media in the last year or so. In the last week or so, it has also heavily reached the YouTube community, due to a video called 'Dear Fat People' by Nicole Arbour, which as you can tell by the title, body shamed 'fat' people. I won't link it because, 1) I don't think it's up anymore, and 2) I would never promote anything like that on my blog. Needless to say, many members of the YouTube community, both YouTubers themselves and fans, responded to this, leading to many conversations about body shaming. So I thought I'd join the conversation and write a post about body shaming. I used the quote above because, for me, it's the best way to describe the effects of public body shaming, if anything, it makes you seem more insecure because you're trying to make someone else insecure.
