Avoiding Adulthood!

Hey Guys x

The car in this picture is my dream car, an Audi R8 Coupe, and I thought it would be really appropriate for this post about adulthood.

Since I turned 20 in December, I've been trying to think of myself as an adult.

I'm in university, I do a lot of stuff myself that I wouldn't have done in my teens (booking my own doctors appointments, buying things with my own money etc), and that makes sense, because I'm now an adult.

And yet, I don't see myself as an adult.

To me, adults in their 20's are the people who drive and have 9-to-5 jobs, and are in long-term relationships waiting for the loves of their lives to pop the question... or even are already engaged/married. I don't see myself ever getting there.

Even saying that I'm 20 kind of scares me because, it feels like my life should be so much further along than it is right now.

I guess what I'm saying is that, I don't feel like a 20 year old.

I don't know if that makes sense to anyone reading, I can hardly explain it to myself, but I feel like I don't act, look or feel like someone my age.

I don't think that this is a bad thing, and I don't mind this. But I'm worried that I'll get to like, 29 and think, 'yes, now I'm in my 20's' - and then the whole decade will completely pass me by.

This probably won't happen, but I can't help but think about it.

I'm sorry today's post is so short - I've been at uni today and had no time to write it over the weekend, so I thought I'd just write something quick. For future reference, Monday's posts may be like this every week.

Thank you for reading!

Comment below - do you feel like your age?

  1. I'm 20 too so I can completely relate to everything you've written! Whilst I'm not at uni and I have a job it doesn't make me feel anymore of an adult, I still have no clue what I'm doing with my life as I don't want it to always stay how it is now! I think when you're younger 20 always sounds so grown up and like you said you think that you should have all of the things you wrote about by now, but in reality I don't think anyone does at our age! Maybe we should stop worrying and just go along with it haha :) xx
