Blogmas Day 14: My Birthday Presents!

DISCLAIMER: This post is in no way me bragging about what I got. Instead, I'm showing how awesome my friends and family are and how grateful I am!


This year, I think I got the most cards that I've ever gotten! I think this is because I'm 18 - It's a milestone. I loved the cards that I got so much, especially the ones that had really sentimental messages in them, which was a lot!








I think I enjoy getting cards as much as presents, because you always get a variety of them and the messages, especially my friends, are always so unique and nice. This year, the messages were so sweet and sentimental, and they made me really happy to read!


I got a lot of really lovely presents this year, and I am so grateful for all of them!

 
These presents are from my aunt, and I haven't seen 'The Other Woman' yet, so I'm really excited to finally see it!

 
This is a present from a friend. Everyone has been talking about 'Gone Girl'  and I have been really really wanting to read it, so when I got it, I was really happy. I'm so excited to read it!






These are presents from another friend. The 'Hello Panda' biscuits are one of my favourite biscuits in the whole world. They're an oriental thing and they're so delicious! The blue purse is the cutest thing ever and I love the Baylis and Harding bath stuff!





These presents are from my best friend Lilly and I love them so much! I always need a bag when I'm going somewhere nice, and now I have some to choose from!


 
This is a present from my other best friend, and I am so happy. This is the first alcoholic present that I have received and I think it will probably be the only one, but I am so excited to open it up and taste it!


 
This is a present from my sister. These are a traditional mix of sweets and I love them so much, I think I've tasted each one at least twice since Friday night!








These are the presents from my mum. The champagne glass is completely gorgeous and I can keep it forever, which is amazing! I also got an Ipod touch, which I've wanted for ages and I really love the colour! As well as this, I got some really beautiful eye make-up. As you guys probably know, I am not really into make-up. But for a long time, I have really been wanting to experiment, and I think that this kit is the perfect start for me!

The two presents that I didn't mention could not be photographed. One of them was driving lessons! I went on my first one yesterday and it was the scariest thing I've ever done! I'll tell you more about it in another post.

The other present was a Camera from my dad, which I used to take all these pictures on. I love it!

When ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse, he soon finds that his past is quickly catching up to him. I've never seen the original Road House, and when I put this one on I wasn't really planning to review it, but I found myself really getting into it. I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Both the characters and the story were a lot more engaging and compelling than I thought they would be. The story sucked me in right from the beginning and I was interested the whole way through. The cast is great, but Jake Gyllenhaal completely carries the film and plays the character of Dalton really well. Again, I can't compare his performance to the original, but I really like the character. The fight scenes, which are pretty much what the film is about, are done really well. Wonka | Film Review

Young Willy Wonka (Timothée Chalamet) tries to follow his dreams to become a respected chocolatier, despite opposition at every turn . This film was never particularly high on my 'to-watch' list, but it was always on my radar, so I'm glad I've finally seen it. I liked this movie a lot more than I thought I would, but I still definitely had problems with it! For a start, while I love the fact that it was a musical, I didn't actually like any of the actual songs. None of them really stood out (except the one that's already known) and having only seen the film yesterday, I can't remember any of them. In fact, while the songs didn't hurt the film, I also don't feel like they were completely necessary. I would have liked the film the same amount if it hadn't been a musical. Wonka is a really charming character, and Chalamet plays him really well. In fact, the entire cast is great - definitely the best thing about the film by a mile. The relationship b

Scarface (1983) | 100 Movies Bucket List

Next up for the Bucket List was another first-time watch! I'd seen the original 1932 film years ago and really liked it, but I never got around to watching this (undoubtedly more popular) version, so I'm glad it was on the list. I really really liked this movie. I'm not sure if I like it more than, or the same as the original, but I definitely had a great time with it. One thing about finally seeing all these classic movies is seeing how much impact they've had on pop culture, and this film is definitely no exception. It's so quotable, there are so many iconic images, and it's one that everyone should watch if they haven't seen it before. The most talked-about aspect of this film is probably the violence, and that's so interesting to see. Not only the way it's spoken about, but also the difference between violence in older films like this and newer releases. My Problem With '8 Simple Rules'

Hey Guys x Today's post might come out as more of a rant, which I'm OK with because I haven't ranted about something in a while! Last year, I started watching the show '8 Simple Rules' when it started playing on Comedy Central. It originally came on between 2002 and 2005 but I didn't watch it when it was first on. Anyway, I really got into it. There were only three seasons, so it was over before I wanted it to be. And I loved this show, and I still love it. Comedy Central doesn't play it anymore but if it did I would dive right back into it because I love a good sitcom. However, I have a major gripe with a plotline of the show, that got more prominent in season 2/3. Let me just explain the characters a bit, so you know who I'm taking about in case you never watched it. The Matrix | 100 Movies Bucket List

  Next up for the Bucket List was a first-time watch. This is one that I had obviously heard of but knew next to nothing about. I found that it took a long time for me to connect with the story, and even then, while the film was interesting to watch, I never felt particularly invested in it. There were a lot of recognisable, iconic moments that I appreciated, and I get how much of an impact it had on sci-fi (and probably movies in general), but I don't know if it was for me. I somewhat enjoyed it, I understood everything that happened, but never felt connected, and didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. It could just be that I need to re-watch it, and I probably will, but for a first watch, I didn't take to it as much as I wanted to. But that being said, I'm glad I finally watched it!
