Hey Guys x This one kind of snuck up on me this month. I've been really busy and as a result, blogging has taken a bit of a backseat. Nevertheless, there are a lot of things that I've been watching and listening to this month, so let's get on with the post! Favourite Movie (1): The Devil All the Time If I had done this post in a month's time, this film probably wouldn't have made the list. But it's here because it's the best film that I've seen in the last fortnight, and I really did enjoy it. But this movie is on Netflix and it is the movie adaptation of a Sophie Kinsella novel (which I'm currently reading, because I enjoyed the film so much). Hey Guys x I knew absolutely nothing about this film until the day before it came out, when it trended on Twitter and people started talking about it. It seemed vaguely interesting (though I have never been particularly interested in Sherlock Holmes as a character), and so I thought I'd see if it was any good. Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) is the sister of famous detective Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill). But when she discovers a mystery of her own, Enola must leave home and enter the world, to discover the truth behind her mother's disappearance. I enjoyed this movie. The plot is simple, but it does a lot with the story. One of the things that makes the film stand out is the fourth-wall breakage, and Enola's voiceover. Hey Guys x I heard a lot about this film before seeing it - so much, in fact, that I was a bit put off. From what I could see, it was either the best film someone had seen in their entire life, or it was so boring and slow that you'd wish for your time back. So while I didn't watch it right away, I was ultimately intrigued about it - however I would eventually feel about it. Two generations are affected by tragedies that cause Arvin Russell (Tom Holland) to take matters into his own hands. This was a hard one to describe, and to talk about, but I really really liked it. It was so different from what I expected, and that really worked. The fact that it doesn't reveal much, particularly in the beginning, could either be seen as being slow, or being intriguing. Hey Guys x I went back and forth with myself over whether or not to buy this book. The Amazon reviews weren't that great, but the Goodreads reviews were quite good, so in the end I had to weigh that up against the price of the book. Even though I knew that it wouldn't be life-changing, for a book like this, the worst it could be was a bit bland, as I already quite liked the premise. Lincoln works in the IT department of a newspaper, where his job is to make sure that no one is using the new computers to discuss inappropriate things. Which means that his job is to sit up all night reading the emails of people that he'd never meet. However, when the emails of two women continually get flagged as 'inappropriate', Lincoln starts reading them, and finds that he can't stop.
