Baking Brownies!

Image
Hey Guys x As soon as my sister went on holiday two weeks ago, we decided that we would bake something. As I baked cookies  a week or so before, we decided that we'd bake brownies instead! So we found a recipe from the BBC goodfood website  and made the brownies, and they were completely delicious! So, obviously I was taking pictures throughout so I could show you guys how to make these brownies too, and what they turned out like. Enjoy! The Ingredients 85g plain flour 275g caster sugar 185g unsalted butter 40g cocoa powder 3 large eggs 185g dark chocolate, 50g milk chocolate, 50g white chocolate The Method Cut both the butter and dark chocolate into small pieces and put them in a bowl. Melt them together by placing the bowl over a saucepan 1/4 filled with boiling water (on a low heat), stirring quite often. make sure the bowl isn't touching the water. once co

July Favourites! | 2015

Image
Hey Guys x Time again to write one of my favourite posts, where I show you all of the things that I have been completely loving this month! As I always say, I hope that some of my favourites become your favourites too! Favourite Movie: Insidious 3 If you don't know yet, I love horror movies! As soon as this came out, I watched it because I really enjoyed the first two insidious films. I honestly didn't expect it to be as good as it was. I was watching it with my mum and we were both jumping out of our skins every 5 minutes - the film has a lot of great jump scares, which is what I love about horror movies. You don't have to see the first two to watch this one as it occurs before them. Although I have to say, if you're not a big fan of horror movies, you may not want to watch this film. Favourite TV Show: The Vampire Diaries When I was doing my exams in June, I stopped watching this so that I could focus on revising. I had just started season 2 so I wasn

Book Review #37: Dream A Little Dream by Giovanna Fletcher

Image
Hey Guys x First of all, I want to say a massive Happy Birthday to my blogging best friend Chloe!! Go over to her blog and wish her a huge happy birthday right now! Now, onto the review! When I got this book, I was so excited to read it! I've read every word that Gi has ever published, so getting this book was a no-brainer! Now, I saw a lot of reviews before actually reading this book, and everyone always said that it was the best book that she's ever written. But to be honest, I never believed that, thinking that people were just saying that because they're a fan of her. However, I can confirm that this is the best book that Giovanna has ever written! It is about a girl called Sarah. Her life at 29 isn't exactly where she thought it'd be. Her job isn't progressing, she's not in a relationship (not helped by the fact that she has to spend an uncomfortably long time around her ex boyfriend and his new 'perfect' girlfriend) and she doesn&

An Interview With Em!

Image
Hey Guys x This post is a little earlier than usual because it's a collab with Em! We decided that we'd interview each other, as this is a series that I already do. Anyway, the amazing Em agreed to be interviewed by me, and you can see the interview here: The Interview Why did you start blogging? When I first started blogging I did it because I had a lot of time on my hands and I wanted something to do. I was doing posts that didn't really mean much to me, I wasn't taking time to edit and improve the photos like I am now. I think I have really learnt loads already. In the first month I was blogging I didn't really think about my posts but now I am proud of the content I give. If you had started blogging today, would your reasons for starting be different? To be honest I'm not sure. Probably as a read more blogs than I used to be to before I got my blog and they really make me think how great this is. Use this question to promot

5 Books You Need To Read | Part 2

Image
Hey Guys x I did this back in April here and some of you guys liked seeing the books that I recommended. So I thought that I'd do it again with another 5 of the best books that I've read! I think I've reviewed most of these before, but it's either so long ago that you probably haven't read it, or if you haven't been reading my blog for that long, you'll have no idea I even like these books! I'm hoping that some of the books I recommend are books that you haven't read, because it will give you more ideas of new things to read! You're The One That I Want This is the classic romantic love triangle. Two guys who have been best friends since forever, and a girl who they let into their gang back in primary school. But when both boys fell for the gorgeous Maddy, tensions begin to arise. And suddenly, it's years later and Maddy is standing at one end of the aisle in a white dress, wondering if she made the right decision. But when it co

Tall Poppies and Jealousy

Image
Hey Guys x This post is partly a response to Carrie Hope Fletcher's video 'Tall Poppies', which you can watch below:      She talks about 'Tall Poppy Syndrome'.   Tall Poppy Syndrome means 'a social phenomenon in which people of genuine merit are resented, attacked, cut down, or criticised because their talents or achievements elevate them above or distinguish them from their peers' according to Wikipedia.   However, Carrie added more to this definition. She said that it was when someone encourages their friend to do well in life, but then resents them if they do better than they wanted them to.   For example, if you and your best friend are both aspiring writers and you encourage your friend to try and get something published, just as they do to you, as most friends would do. However, if you both try to get something published and your friend makes it and you don't, you then feel jealous of them and resent them for this.

If I Stay | Film Review

Image
Hey Guys x This film is also a book, which I reviewed here last September. I saw this film for the first time a couple of weeks ago when it came on a Sky Movies for the first time. I had always wanted to watch it because I really enjoyed reading the book. But I have to say - and this is probably the only time I'll ever say this - the film was so much better than the book! It's about a girl called Mia who lives with her parents and younger brother Teddy. The film shows two completely different times. On the one hand, it shows Mia's life leading up to the main 'incident' of the film, and on the other hand, it shows everything that happens after the incident. In the film, Mia has to make some really tough decisions. I don't want to give too much away, but the main decision is whether she should stay or go, and there are a lot of reasons to do both, which is hard to digest, especially for a 7 year old. This film touched me in so many different ways - an

How To: Find New Bloggers!

Image
Hey Guys x   Before I begin this post, I just wanted to say that I've just been reading the comments on my last post ( here ) and I honestly can't put into words how much those comments, and you guys individually, mean to me. So thank you very much if you commented on or even read my last post.   Anyway, recently, I've been really struggling to find new bloggers, and I figured that some of you guys might be struggling with finding new bloggers too.   So then, I had one day where I just found a lot of new bloggers, so I thought that I'd give you guys some tips on how to find new bloggers!   Dive Into Popular Bloggers Comments!   This is the best place! People who read the blogs of popular bloggers and YouTubers always leave their blog links, just because they want the bloggers to see them. So what I do is, I go on to a popular blogger's latest post (such as Louise/Sprinkle of Glitter) and look though the comments. Then with every blogge

Baking Tanya Burr's Cookies!

Image
Hey Guys x First of all, thank you so much to all the people who left comments on my last post, The Future . All of your comments were lovely and inspiring, and they meant so much to me, so thank you! I have baked cookies before, casually following Tanya's cookie recipe, which you can see here , but I only followed the recipe loosely and, looking back on it, they weren't as good as they could have been. So this week, I had some friends over and we decided to bake her cookies, strictly following the recipe that is in her book - and they turned out great! Ingredients I didn't take pictures of the ingredients because I was distracted by getting everything together and getting all of the equipment, but what you need is: 200g butter 300g caster sugar 1 large egg 325g self raising flour 200g white chocolate 200g milk chocolate The method Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Start by whisking the butter (at room temp) and the sugar until it's
