2022 Favourites!
If you read yesterday's post, I mentioned that today's would be my 2022 favourites, and here they are! Let me know what some of your favourite things have been from the last year!
Favourite Movie (1): tick, tick... BOOM!
This was one of the first films I watched in 2022, and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. You can read my review HERE, but it's still one of the best films I've seen this year.
Favourite Movie (2): Free Guy
I still can't get over how much I loved this film. I reviewed it HERE, and I still love it as much as I did when I wrote that review. It was original, so much fun, and definitely one you can re-watch without getting bored. Watch this if you haven't!Favourite Movie (3): Les Miserables: The Staged Concert
I'm not sure this counts as a movie but I've included it anyway. This is the concert version of the Les Miserables stage show, which came out in 2019. I haven't seen the stage show, but watching this made me feel like I was there - and now I want to go and see it for real!Favourite Movie (4): Marry Me
I've mentioned this film quite a few times on the blog, including reviewing it HERE. It was definitely a lot better than I expected it to be - it was adorable.Favourite Film (5): We Can Be Heroes
This is a fun favourite. I watched this on a whim while going through Pedro Pascal's filmography (more on him later), and as much as it wasn't targeted at me, made for me, or something that I'd usually like, I completely fell in love with it. It was easy to follow, cute, fun and I had a really good time with it. I'd definitely watch another one if a sequel came out.
Favourite TV Show (1): The Mandalorian
Another surprise from Pedro Pascal's filmography. I like the Star Wars movies, but I'm not the biggest fan. I wasn't planning to watch this show at all, but decided to give it a go and was surprised not only by how much I liked it, but how quickly I liked it. I absolutely love the show, I can't wait for the next season to come out next year, and I'll be watching the first two in the meantime because I am obsessed with this story and this character.
Favourite TV Show (2): Heartstopper
I reviewed this show HERE and basically just spent the post talking about how much I loved it, so it shouldn't be a surprise that it ended up on this list. I can't wait to watch the second season!
Favourite TV Show (3): Moon Knight
I haven't seen all of the Marvel Disney+ shows, and I haven't loved the few that I have seen, but Moon Knight stands head and shoulders above the rest. I absolutely loved it and think it was a great addition to the MCU canon.
Favourite TV Show (4): Sons of Anarchy
I've mentioned this show way too many times to go into it again now, but I'm in the middle of another re-watch and I'm still as obsessed (if not more so) than the first time I saw it. This is one that I'd definitely recommend.
Favourite Song (1): tick, tick... BOOM! Soundtrack
I've already mentioned it once, but the soundtrack for tick, tick... BOOM! was definitely a contributing factor to why I loved the film so much. Every song is amazing and it definitely deserves more listens.
Favourite Song (2): Les Miserables: The Staged Concert Soundtrack
Again, I've mentioned this before, but since Les Mis is all singing, it made sense to add it to the song section too. I've been listening to the soundtrack non-stop and it's incredible, particularly because it's completely live. The actors did an amazing job.Favourite Song (3): Come Join the Murder
I've mentioned this song before, but it's the song that closes out the Sons of Anarchy finale. I've been compiling a list of my favourite songs from the show into a Spotify playlist, and I still haven't heard anything that tops this song - it's incredible in and out of context.Favourite Song (4): Make It Rain
This is another that I first heard in a Sons of Anarchy episode, and I immediately added it to the playlist because it's an incredible song. Perfect for the scene it was used in, and also just amazing in general.Favourite Song (5): Fire Meet Gasoline
This is probably the song I've listened to the most this year. I fell in love with it the second I heard it and I still play it on repeat whenever I get the chance. It's definitely my favourite SIA song.Favourite YouTuber: Hannah Witton
I've been a causal fan of Hannah Witton for years, never subscribed but would always dip in and out of her videos. This year I just fell completely in love with her content and had to subscribe, and she's one of the only YouTubers that I watch consistently. I also follow her on other platforms, and subscribe to her newsletter, and I just love the content she makes.Favourite Actor (1): Pedro Pascal
This shouldn't really come as a surprise - I've loved getting into Pedro's filmography this year, and thankfully found a show that I love, as well as some really interesting movies that I'm definitely gonna watch again!Favourite Actor (2): JLO
I've unintentionally watched quite a few JLO movies this year, but ultimately her Halftime documentary was the thing that cemented her on this list. I became a fan of her as a performer, and definitely gained a new respect for her. Plus she's made a lot of great movies, and I really want to get through more of them next year.Favourite Actor (3): Andrew Garfield
I think Andrew Garfield's has been my favourite filmography to go through this year. He has some incredible movies under his belt, and they've been a pleasure to watch. Other than tick, tick... BOOM!, which is what made me a fan on the first place, my favourites have included 'Breathe', 'The Amazing Spider-Man', 'The Social Network', 'Never Let Me Go' and 'Mainstream', but there are so many more. Definitely an actor that I'll be following in the future!Favourite Actor (4): Sons of Anarchy Cast
One of my absolute favourite things about this show is the chemistry that the cast has. The show ended a while ago and the cast members still go to conventions together, two have a podcast about the show, and it's so nice that the show can live on even though it's finished. Plus their chemistry definitely makes its way onto the screen, which is just one reason that the show is as compelling as it is.Favourite Book (1): The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
I reviewed this book HERE back in January and I still haven't read anything better than it this year. If you're looking for your next read, pick this up. It surpassed my expectations to no end and I'm so glad I read it.Favourite Book (2): Seven Days in June
I reviewed this book HERE, and it's another one that I didn't expect to love as much as I did. I've fallen a bit out of love with romance recently, but this is one that dragged me back in. It was exactly what I wanted from a story like this, and I definitely want to read more of the author's work.Random Favourites
This year, all of my random favourites are podcasts - here are my favourites!
Shagged, Married, Annoyed
I often forget about this one, mainly because it's become such a constant part of my life that it doesn't even feel like listening to a podcast. I listen to this every night before I go to bed and at this point I probably wouldn't be able to fall asleep without Chris and Rosie in my ear!Rose and Rosie: Parental Guidance
Rose and Rosie finished their podcast, Parental Guidance, this year. I put off listening to the last few episodes because I loved the show so much and really didn't want it to end. Definitely worth listening to, whether you're a parent or not.Reaper Reviews
This is the newest podcast I've been listening to, and I've definitely mentioned it before. It's a Sons of Anarchy podcast, where two cast members have gone through and spoken about each episode. They finished back in August (I think), so not only am I putting off catching up so I can make it last longer, I've also been re-listening to old episodes. Most of the episodes are also on YouTube, so definitely worth a watch if you're a fan of the show.
Happy Mum, Happy Baby
And that concludes this incredibly long favourites post! What have been some of your favourite things this year?
