Christmas Is Canceled | Blogmas Day 2
It's Blogmas day 2!
This film had a unique premise and seemed to be different from the usual lifetime/hallmark-style Christmas movies, so I decided to add it to the Blogmas list!
When Emma's (Hayley Orrantia) father (Dermot Mulroney) starts dating a girl she went to school with (Janel Parrish), she sets out to break them up before the holidays.
The premise, and the trailer, were a lot better than the actual movie.
There was a lot of room for comedy in the film - the characters say things that could be perceived as 'funny', but the actual tone of the film doesn't work and ended up making the jokes fall flat.
The film never made me care about the characters or the story. I found that the only likeable character was the 'villain' - she was strong-willed, passionate and interesting to watch even if you didn't like what she did.
It might have been the lack of background music, but a lot of the film felt quite bland.
Without the self-imposed Christmas deadline, this film could have taken place at any time of year and nothing would have changed.
Overall, this isn't one to get you in the Christmas spirit, and it's definitely not as enjoyable as it could have been.
Originality - 6/10
Christmas Spirit - 2/10
Christmas Music - 3/10
It's 23 days until Christmas!
Come back tomorrow for Blogmas day 3!
