Bad Boys | 100 Movies Bucket List

Next up was a highly anticipated re-watch!

This film was a staple in my house growing up. I can't remember the first time I saw it because I've seen it so many times!

The thing that makes this film work above all else is absolutely without a doubt the chemistry between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. They work so well together, they play off of each other amazingly and they're the reason the movie has become a franchise.

But adding Téa Leoni into the mix just made everything so much more fun. Not only do we get to see the characters interacting together, but we get to see them interacting with, and from the point of view of, a third party.

And in addition to that, taking the characters out of the equation, the film is hilarious. It's one of my favourite comedies because everything is written and acted so well. Every comedic moment hits exactly as it's supposed to, and there are pieces of dialogue that easily work their way into your everyday phrases because of how iconic they are.

Speaking of the writing, every aspect of the film, from the plot to the dialogue, is written so well. We quickly get to know the world and the characters, and it's really easy to get fully sucked in because every aspect of the film is really compelling.

The plot itself is also really interesting. You find yourself completely invested in the story because you genuinely want to know what's going on and how things will end.

I thought the amount of action in the movie was great. Michael Bay movies can be a bit hit-or-miss for me in terms of the action and how necessary it feels to the plot. And it may be because this was his feature debut, but the amount of action had a distinct correlation to how necessary it was to the film (with some fun explosions thrown in). There are two more Michael Bay movies on the bucket list that will be first-time watches, so I hope the action works as well in those as it does here.

I didn't expect this to be on a bucket list, but it absolutely deserves its place. The pace never slows down, the story never gets less entertaining, it's just a hilarious thrill from start to finish and definitely worth a watch!
