The Noel Diary | Blogmas Day 12

 It's Blogmas day 12!

As Blogmas day 12 is my birthday, I always try to find a film that's a bit special. As soon as I saw the trailer for this one, I knew that I had to use it for this day - and hoped I wouldn't be disappointed! This is a new Netflix movie so beware there will be a spoiler in this review.

When bestselling author Jacob Turner (Justin Hartley) crosses paths with Rachel (Barrett Doss), they work together to discover secrets of the past.

I loved this film. It has instantly become my favourite of Blogmas, and I don't know if anything could take that spot from it.

For a start, I really liked the premise. Even without the Christmas backdrop, it's something that I'd watch.

I really like the characters individually regardless of the story - but they do fit really well into this world, and the actors played their parts amazingly well.

The chemistry between the characters is great. You watch them fall in love and really believe that they are.

It's well-written, well-paced, well-plotted, and the dialogue is great. We get to know the characters as they get to know each other, which is another reason why the build-up of their friendship/relationship feels authentic.

I've never loved a Christmas rom-com couple more than these two.

The journey was a lot more interesting than the destination - literally. It was much more fun to watch them get to know each other on the road trip than it was when they finally found what they were looking for.

My only gripe with the story, which I assume will resonate with a lot of people who watched the film - why did Rachel have to be engaged? It made the romance morally compromising and made it hard to root for. The story was good enough without this unnecessary detail.

I wanted more after the (abrupt) end, which is probably the sign of a good movie.

Overall, I loved this movie and would recommend it to anyone who's a fan of Christmas, romance or love. Definitely the best of Blogmas so far.
