Hey Guys x

It's Blogmas day 8!

This is a film that I found on Netflix, and I decided to add it to my Blogmas because it looked so different from the usual Christmas movies that I've reviewed so far.

Regina (Erica Ash) and Franklin (Redaric Williams) are a couple in the process of finalising their divorce. But when they learn that their divorce will be finalised on Christmas day, the couple take some time apart in order to truly see what they're losing. But are they really ready to divorce?

Despite the fact that this is an original-sounding movie... that doesn't actually make it good. Which is a shame because I really hoped it would be.

The first thing that struck me about this movie was that everything that the actors said sounded fake, like they didn't even believe it themselves. There wasn't one character who sounded genuine or believable, and that just took me out of the entire movie before I even had a real chance to get into it.

As well as being unbelievable, the characters are also unlikeable. There wasn't one character that you could get behind or root for, and this also goes for the starring couple of the film, who aren't great characters at all. And in addition to that, even if they were good people, the main reason you can't root for them is because their relationship is so obviously toxic. They should not be together at all.

It's trying so hard to be a Christmas movie, that it has multiple characters randomly exclaim 'it's Christmas' at multiple times throughout the movie. It's forcing this idea that just isn't necessary, and it's kind of using Christmas to elevate a film that wouldn't be good whether it was a Christmas movie or not.

And then the ending, which was probably the worst thing about the film. I mean, with all of these movies you could say that the ending is predictable, or bad, or obvious, and that's fine. The problem with this ending is that, even if we take everything else in the film at face value as something completely real, the ending doesn't make sense. I won't spoil it, but it was just completely unnecessary, as well as being predictable.

Overall, I don't recommend this film at all. There are better Christmas movies.

6/10 - Originality
2/10 - Christmas Spirit
5/10 - Christmas Music

It's 17 days until Christmas!

Come back tomorrow for Blogmas day 9!
