Hey Guys x

Happy Blogmas day 4!

This is the first Christmas movie of Blogmas that's also basically a Hallmark movie - aka the kind of cliche love stories that my Blogmas will be filled with, with a little bit of snow and presents thrown in for good measure.

Clara (Kaitlyn Leeb) isn't a fan of the celebrity chef, Shane (Scott Cavalheiro) who is set to become her new boss. But when their paths keep crossing, the pair realise that cooking isn't the only love they share.

The only good thing I can say about this film is that the beginning of it really gets you in the Christmas spirit.

However, even for a cliche Christmas film (with the most cliche meet-cute), this wasn't a great movie. And a lot of that stems from the male protagonist.

Shane the celebrity chef begins as a really bland character whose whole personality is being a chef, which is kind of a Christmas cliche in and of itself. However, soon we see a slightly different side of his personality - falling for Clara purely based on her looks.

This might have worked, but there was absolutely no chemistry between the main couple. It felt like they were together because they were both single at the same time, but there was nothing about either of them that made it clear that they would be together if this film was about anything other than Christmas.

The film tries to force us to think that Shane is a great guy, but the only way that they reiterate this is giving him 'fans' that can't stop drooling over him. We never really get to know him, or to understand anything about what makes him him, so it's really hard to feel anything for him.

And then we come back to the couple's lack of chemistry. The problem with this is that the film isn't really about anything other than their romance. Yes, they have the backstory of Clara wanting to own her own restaurant, but really, the film was made for the romance, and this wasn't done well at all.

In a way, the only thing to take away from the film is that Clara should open up a restaurant, move away from that town, and never speak to Shane again, because they're not really in love anyway.

Overall, as you can see, I'm not a huge fan of the film at all. But it's on Netflix, so maybe you can find something in it that I couldn't?

2/10 - Originality
4/10 - Christmas Spirit
6/10 - Christmas Music

It's 21 Days Until Christmas!

Come back tomorrow for Blogmas day 5!
