A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding | Blogmas Day 13
Hey Guys x
As promised, here is the second 'A Christmas Prince' review. And as you can tell from the title, this one is about a wedding!
A year after the events of the last film, Amber (Rose McIver) and King Richard (Ben Lamb) are preparing for their wedding. But with Amber second-guessing whether or not she can be the queen of Aldovia, and a financial scandal about to rock the kingdom, will these two make it down the aisle?
As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I love the entire trilogy. However, for me, this one was the least enjoyable.
The best thing about a sequel is that you don't have to spend time getting to know these characters because you've already watched the first movie. You can get right into the story.
However, with this film that is a bit of a problem because the story this time around is a lot less interesting than the first - particularly the side-story about the kingdom's finances.
There is also a lot less chemistry between Amber and Richard this time around. And for me, this problem lay wholeheartedly with the character of Richard in this film.
This is because, for a start, you hardly ever see him. But when you do see him, he's either part of the boring finance story-line, or he's doing something that upsets Amber, like not defending her when he should be. Overall, he was the only character for me that came off worse in this film than the first one.
For a movie titled 'The Royal Wedding', it was hardly about the wedding at all. In fact, by the time they rushed through the wedding at the end of the film, part of me had forgot that a wedding was even coming up!
For me, the side characters, such as Emily (Honor Kneafsey), Simon (Theo Devaney), Melissa (Tahirah Sharif) and Andy (Joel McVeagh) were all a lot more entertaining than the main couple.
Overall, watch this movie - but only so you can get to the next one! It's barely a Christmas movie.
7/10 - Originality
3/10 - Christmas Spirit
4/10 - Christmas Music
Come back tomorrow for Blogmas Day 14, and my review of the final 'Christmas Prince' instalment!
