Hey Guys x

Happy Blogmas Day 2!

Aside from 'Last Christmas', this is probably the Christmas movie that I've heard the most about this month... probably because whenever Netflix collabs with Vanessa Hudgens it's something to be talked about! So even though the premise sounded crazy, I decided to go with it.

Brooke (Vanessa Hudgens) is a woman who doesn't believe in true love. Cole (Josh Whitehouse) is a knight from the 14th century. When they collide, they both discover that, maybe, they've both found what they've always been looking for.

Now, this film is definitely not as bad as I thought it was going to be, but... that doesn't exactly mean it was good.

There wasn't a second of the film that isn't cheesy or unrealistic. It actually gets to the point where you have to force yourself to not take anything you're seeing seriously, because that's the only way you can get through it without becoming annoyed by everything that just doesn't make sense. And there's a lot that doesn't make sense, even if you accept the premise that he is a 14th century knight.

There's also not a lot of chemistry between the main couple. Thankfully, unlike a lot of movies like this, it wasn't exactly love at first sight. But even so, you have to kind of see a spark between them to understand why they could possibly get together - and I didn't really get it.

However, it nicely ties in a few of the other Netflix Christmas movies - which are becoming a cinematic universe of their own, which is actually really cool.

The thing with this film is, it knows exactly what it is and leans into the cheesyness and lack of realism, and the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously really works in its favour.

Overall, after leaning into this cheese yourself, it is a film that you can get into and enjoy. It's not the most amazing movie, and you definitely won't find your life changed by it, but it's enjoyable nonetheless.

7/10 - Originality
5/10 - Christmas Spirit

It's 23 days until Christmas!
