Too Close for Christmas | Blogmas Day 4

It's Blogmas day 4!

This film came out on the Sky Premiere channel a couple of weeks ago, and because I recognised the two main actors, I thought I'd add it to the Blogmas list.

When spending Christmas with her sister's in-laws, Hayley (Jessica Lowndes) inadvertently also spends Christmas with Paul (Chad Michael Murray), the man responsible for ending her last relationship.

I took an instant liking to this story and these characters. Maybe it's because I was familiar with the actors, but I really liked the way the characters were created.

Having said that, as much as I enjoyed the characters, they didn't have a lot of chemistry, and the chemistry that they did have felt very forced. You don't always believe that they like each other because their faces say something different than their words.

But even without the chemistry, the characters are entertaining, and the film is a fun watch. It's predictable, but I would expect nothing less from a Christmas movie.

The story itself doesn't really have a lot of substance. It's not the kind of film you'll think about once the credits stop rolling.

All of the supposedly 'big' moments of conflict or change in the film feel really insignificant, which again goes back to the film having no substance.

Overall, this a cute, light Christmas film that's enjoyable enough, but there are many more worthwhile Christmas rom-coms to watch.

Originality - 2/10

Christmas Spirit - 7/10

Christmas Music - 3/10

It's 21 days until Christmas!

Come back tomorrow for Blogmas Day 5!
