Happy Blogmas Day 2 guys!

Here we have, the first film review of the Blogmas season on this blog.

There's no particular reason that I started Blogmas with this movie, so I hope that you enjoy my review of it!

This film is about a group of people travelling from Earth to a different planet to live and populate a new society, but it takes many many years to get there, so the passengers are put to sleep for however many years it takes. However, Jim Preston, a mechanic on the ship, is accidentally woken up 90 years too early. With no way to go back to sleep, and no way to get off the ship, there's nothing that he can do but wait. However, after a year alone, he begins to go stir-crazy. Can he really spend the next 90 years alone on the ship? And what does the lovely Aurora Lane have to do with this?

That's the vaguest description ever, but I don't want to give ANYTHING away!

This film got a lot of negativity when it came out, so I really didn't expect it to be any good whatsoever.

However, I was pleasantly surprised. It is a really really good film, I enjoyed it immensely.

Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence in the main roles were amazing, because they're both really good actors and played these parts really well. People have said that they don't think the two have any chemistry between them, but I certainly didn't notice that in the film.

Chris Pratt in particular was great because he wasn't a black-and-white character. There was a lot of good and bad in him, and I have so many opinions on him that I haven't yet quite worked out how I feel about him.

The film itself poses a really interesting moral dilemma, and it makes you think about social isolation and whether or not you would have gone to try and populate this new planet with 5,000 people that you don't know.

There's some things that I didn't like though. For example, Laurence Fishburne came into the film at a really weird time, added nothing to the plot, and it was just a really weird thing, especially for such a high profile actor.

However, the small plot holes and don't take away from the fact that it is a really interesting, gripping film that should definitely be given a chance.

Have you seen this? Do you want to?

It's 23 days until Christmas!

Come back tomorrow for Blogmas day 3!
