The Fault In Our Stars - Film Review

Last night, me and two of my friends went to see 'The Fault In Our Stars' film. I was so excited and was anticipating that I would cry, kind of like how I felt when I was about to read the book. We saw it 4 days after it came out here in the UK (It came out on the 19th) because we wanted to make sure that we were not in a crowded cinema, as the rustling and whispered talking of the people around you will ruin your viewing pleasure, and we were letting nothing ruin TFIOS.

 
This was my seat in the cinema just before the film started. I was so excited that I took many pictures, but this one was the only one that was light enough for you to actually be able to see anything!

Because I loved the book so much, I was so excited to see how the film would play out.
The film was true to the book in so many ways, which made it amazing. Obviously films are NEVER as good as their book counterparts, but TFIOS did come quite close. Also, the film was able to make me cry, something that the book had not accomplished. So yes, I was in the cinema literally crying my eyes out, but I don't regret it!
 
This is a 'tattoo' design that my friend had, and if you've read the book or seen the movie then you'll get the reference, but I loved the design so much that I had to include it in this. The perks of having artistic friends!
But seriously, if you've read the book and loved it, you'll 100% love the movie. And if you haven't read the book, watch the film anyway. One of the friends who I saw it with has never read the book, but now really wants to, because of how good the film is!

The Matrix | 100 Movies Bucket List

  Next up for the Bucket List was a first-time watch. This is one that I had obviously heard of but knew next to nothing about. I found that it took a long time for me to connect with the story, and even then, while the film was interesting to watch, I never felt particularly invested in it. There were a lot of recognisable, iconic moments that I appreciated, and I get how much of an impact it had on sci-fi (and probably movies in general), but I don't know if it was for me. I somewhat enjoyed it, I understood everything that happened, but never felt connected, and didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. It could just be that I need to re-watch it, and I probably will, but for a first watch, I didn't take to it as much as I wanted to. But that being said, I'm glad I finally watched it!

Scarface (1983) | 100 Movies Bucket List

Next up for the Bucket List was another first-time watch! I'd seen the original 1932 film years ago and really liked it, but I never got around to watching this (undoubtedly more popular) version, so I'm glad it was on the list. I really really liked this movie. I'm not sure if I like it more than, or the same as the original, but I definitely had a great time with it. One thing about finally seeing all these classic movies is seeing how much impact they've had on pop culture, and this film is definitely no exception. It's so quotable, there are so many iconic images, and it's one that everyone should watch if they haven't seen it before. The most talked-about aspect of this film is probably the violence, and that's so interesting to see. Not only the way it's spoken about, but also the difference between violence in older films like this and newer releases. Wonka | Film Review

Young Willy Wonka (Timothée Chalamet) tries to follow his dreams to become a respected chocolatier, despite opposition at every turn . This film was never particularly high on my 'to-watch' list, but it was always on my radar, so I'm glad I've finally seen it. I liked this movie a lot more than I thought I would, but I still definitely had problems with it! For a start, while I love the fact that it was a musical, I didn't actually like any of the actual songs. None of them really stood out (except the one that's already known) and having only seen the film yesterday, I can't remember any of them. In fact, while the songs didn't hurt the film, I also don't feel like they were completely necessary. I would have liked the film the same amount if it hadn't been a musical. My Problem With '8 Simple Rules'

Hey Guys x Today's post might come out as more of a rant, which I'm OK with because I haven't ranted about something in a while! Last year, I started watching the show '8 Simple Rules' when it started playing on Comedy Central. It originally came on between 2002 and 2005 but I didn't watch it when it was first on. Anyway, I really got into it. There were only three seasons, so it was over before I wanted it to be. And I loved this show, and I still love it. Comedy Central doesn't play it anymore but if it did I would dive right back into it because I love a good sitcom. However, I have a major gripe with a plotline of the show, that got more prominent in season 2/3.
