Avengers: Age Of Ultron | Film Review

Hey Guys x

I saw the first 'Avengers' movie for the first time last week - I know I'm really late but it just never appealed to me before.

Anyway, after watching it, I immediately loved it! And when I say 'loved' I mean seriously, it became (and still is) an obsession!

It was also the first 'MARVEL' movie that I ever saw (and now I'm going to literally watch every MARVEL movie ever made!) and I was just so impressed!

So the next week, which was yesterday, I watched 'Captain America: Winter Soldier' before going to see 'Age Of Ultron' straight after.

If you have no idea what this is, let me give you a breakdown of the characters:

Iron Man/Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr. A genius billionaire who has managed to create a suit that ensures that a piece of shrapnel that he was impaled with doesn't reach his heart. However, this suit also enables him to fly and carries multiple weapons. He's almost indestructible.

Captain America/Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans. The leader of the Avengers. A soldier from the second world war who was injected with a serum to boost his strength, agility and speed (amongst other things) and then frozen. He was thawed out many years later, still alive, with all of his powers in tact. His weapon is a shield that is impenetrable.

Hulk/Bruce Banner, played by Mark Ruffalo. Probably the only one that you've actually heard of! He's a doctor and a scientist who was exposed to an overload of gamma rays, causing him to turn into an uncontrollable green monster when he is angry or stressed.

Thor/Thor Odinson, played by Chris Hemsworth. He's an Asgardian God (Asgard is a different planet) who has God-like strength and a hammer that only he can lift, which is impenetrable.

Black Widow/ Natasha Romanoff, played by Scarlett Johansson. A master assassin who could literally use just her hands to kill/injure anyone who gets in her way, human or not.

Hawkeye/Clint Barton, played by Jeremy Renner. Another master assassin whose weapon of choice is a bow and arrow. However, this isn't the Hunger Games and Hawkeye's skill with the bow and arrow should not be underestimated.

These are all of the main 'Avengers', however, there are another two characters that join during 'Age Of Ultron'

Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen. They were both experimented on and survived, Quicksilver gaining super-speed and Scarlett Witch having telekinesis and mind control.

As well as the 'Avengers' films, when they are all together, there are also 3 'Iron Man' movies, 2 'Captain America' movies and 2 'Thor' movies (and who knows what else there will be in the future!)

Here's my overview on the film, but it will be short because I don't want to give spoilers of ANY of the films in case you're completely new to this but want to start watching it.

So, this film shows the Avengers getting back together after a few years apart. They are all as friendly as ever and are trying to find new ways of keeping the earth safe. However, for genius billionaire Stark (Iron Man), his idea is to create a robot who instils peace into the earth. He calls this robot 'ULTRON'. However, when ULTRON is 'born', he thinks that the only way to have peace is to get rid of the Avengers, and in turn the human race.

That's about as much as I can say without spoilers.

As someone who hasn't seen many of the movies that surround this sequel, if you're going into this blind, you'll either need to have some knowledge of what happened in the lead up, or a friend who can tell you because, not only may it get a bit confusing, but all of their stories are really interesting! It also helped to see the second 'Captain America' film right before seeing this, as things made a bit more sense to me.

However, I loved this film!

It had the right amount of action and drama for me. The characters really developed in this one, which was really nice to see as someone who is genuinely interested in each of the characters. If you already have knowledge of the MARVEL films, then be warned that there are some surprises along the way that really make the film amazing!
Also, all of the actors in this film are amazing and they do their parts so well, you literally have no idea how they do the special effects that happen, which I loved!

The only thing I can find fault with, is that I thought that the first film was better than the second, but not a lot better. It was just a bit funnier and it was really nice to see how the characters would fit together initially. However, as a sequel, it was amazing and I don't know how they're going to top it for the next two movies! (Scheduled for 2018 and 2019)

If you've never seen these movies because you think that they're 'for boys', you're really missing an amazing franchise.

Coming from someone who has been living in Disney and Romance for her whole life, this film (and the first Avengers) was like nothing I had ever seen before, and I really regret not watching this sooner because it's now one of my all-time favourite movies and I am itching to watch the Iron Man, Thor and Captain America movies!

Overall - Forget about all of the preconceptions you have of 'superhero' films and watch the first Avengers film. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Thank you for reading
