Hey Guys x

I heard about this movie ages ago, and made a mental note to watch it when it came out. Then I forgot about it, saw the description and thought it sounded really interesting, before remembering that it was the film that I'd wanted to see ages ago. Safe to say I'm really interested in the premise of this film!

It's about a woman called Sofia, who is a blind pianist. One day, she hears a struggle in the apartment above hers, and later in the night finds out that her neighbour Veronique has seemingly committed suicide. Sofia's friendship with her neighbour leads her to meet Veronique's father. This meeting sees Sofia fall into a world of secrets, danger and criminality. But as we learn more about Sofia's dark past, it becomes clear that this world of danger is one that she knows all too well.

I found this film extremely interesting, a thrilling watch.

Having a blind pianist is an interesting dynamic anyway, but when that is paired with this criminal world, it creates a movie that you don't want to look away from, for fear of missing something integral to the plot.

The first half hour/40 minutes or so of the film was the best, in my opinion. You get to meet both Sofia and Veronique, you get to see their relationship with each other, and you get to see the way that Sofia navigates her life in London while being blind. And then the incident happens, and like Sofia, the audience is thrown into this criminal world, trying to work out what's happening just as Sofia is.

From here, the film gets a bit confusing. It's extremely dark, and it's hard to keep track of who is good and bad, who did what, who's who, and who we should be rooting for. This didn't take away how enjoyable the film was, but it's clear that you have to watch the film a lot closer and pay a lot more attention than I clearly did!

The character of Sofia was so interesting to me, because you start off just thinking that she's an innocent party. But as you find out more about the world, you find out more about her. You see her flaws, her character defects, and you find that she's a lot more 3-dimensional than you initially give her credit for.

And there's one or two twists that come towards the end of the movie that bring a whole new dynamic to the film, and I loved them. They just made all of the characters that much more complicated, it was great!

So overall, definitely check out this film if you get the chance, because it's really interesting, with a well written script, great characters/actors and awesome plot twists!
