Hey Guys x

I went to see this at the weekend, pretty much based on how much I loved the first one. I remember the excitement that I felt in the cinema during the first one, and I really wanted it to be replicated during the sequel.

It takes place three years after the Jurassic World theme park from the first film has been destroyed. The park lay on a dormant volcano. However, Owen Grady and Claire Dearing are brought back to the area when it is discovered that this volcano is not only active, but about to erupt. However, gettng the dinosaurs to safety isn't easy - especially when they discover sinister plans. Plans that involve the creation of new dinosaurs - plans that threaten the whole planet.

I really enjoyed this film.

In terms of the plot, it is made clear that there is a lot at stake, both for the dinosaurs and the people who care about them. This is particularly important because there had to be a really good reason for this story to make its way back around when the first seemed to tie everything up.

One of the most enjoyable things about the film is the introduction of new characters, both villains and heroes alike. This includes the likes of Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, Justice Smith and Daniella Pineda - plus what can only be described as a cameo from the one and only Jeff Goldblum. Each brought something different to the film, and each was extremely well-casted in their respective roles.

This film sees the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, a dynamic duo that clearly work well together. While they had less romantic chemistry in this film than the last, this is more than made up for by their chemistry as friends and co-workers. In fact, the small injection of romance is quite unnecessary and doesn't add anything to the film whatsoever.

What did add to the film, however, was the fact that these dinosaurs had been living without human contact for a significant period of time. Where in the first film the audience benefits from Owen Grady's familiarity with these animals, the lack of that this time around makes the dinosaurs themselves extremely scary, adding to the tension of the film.

Having said this, the film itself is predictable. While there is a lot at stake, you as the audience don't feel that any lasting damage will happen to the characters that you've come to love.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this film, particularly if you're already a fan of the 'Jurassic' genre. It may not be the best of the franchise, but it's a fun and exciting film nonetheless.
