Hey Guys x

So, because I watch a lot of TV and movies, I've decided that I want to write blog post about some of my favourite characters from movies and TV shows, where I can just gush about how much I love them - and first up is Kimmy Schmidt.

Character: Kimmy Schmidt

TV Show: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Portrayed by: Ellie Kemper

Last year, I binged the first three seasons of this show back to back, and I was surprised by how much I loved it.

The show is about a girl who, along with three other girls, was kidnapped and held hostage in an underground bunker for 15 years. When they are eventually rescued, Kimmy has to find a way to assimilate into the world again, with the help of her roommate Titus, her landlady Lillian and her boss Jacqueline.

The reason that I chose to focus on Kimmy in this post is not because she's my favourite character on the show, because she's not, that spot is reserved for Titus.

But Kimmy is a particularly amazing character.

As I've already mentioned, she has been out of the world for 15 years. This makes her a child stuck in an adults body, and I love her for it.

She is a character that is so unique. You never get that type of innocence in adult characters, and when it is in child characters, they are never the main character of whatever they are starring in. Having Kimmy as the main character of a TV show is genius because she is the absolute perfect form of escapism. You can completely let go of your life as you delve into Kimmy's world - and because of her innocence, the show becomes pure comedy and goodness, it isn't dark in any sense, and I love that.

What this also means is that, when you watch the show, you're seeing the world through the eyes of a child. And when you do this, you notice a lot more about both Kimmy's world and the real world than you would otherwise.

She's portrayed by Ellie Kemper, who played Erin in 'The Office' (US), another role that she was amazing in. She plays Kimmy so well, she makes the character so relatable and interesting, and I'm sure that people would watch Kimmy's adventures for years to come!

Watch 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' on Netflix - the first 6 episodes of season 4 came out last week and I can't wait to tune in!
