The Dark Knight | 100 Movie Bucket List

Despite being a huge comic book movie fan, Batman is one of the characters that I connected with the least.

Because of that, I had never seen any Batman movies outside of Ben Affleck's. I had always had Christian Bale's and Robert Pattinson's on my list, but never got around to watching them.

So I used the Dark Knight spot on the Bucket List to watch the whole trilogy, and I'm so glad I did!

I absolutely LOVED these movies!

I went in blind, knowing nothing about the specific movies and having only limited information about Batman as a character, and I completely fell in love with the characters and the world.

Of course, if we're focusing on The Dark Knight specifically, Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker has to be mentioned. I've always known that this performance is commonly regarded as one of the best villain performances in film history, and it certainly didn't disappoint! He was amazing in the role!

And Christian Bale is an incredible Batman. He played the character so well, and his performance really helped me to understand why people love Batman so much.

The Dark Knight fit perfectly between the first and last movie, and as much as I think the whole trilogy could have been on the Bucket List, this was definitely the best of the three!

Apocalypse Now | 100 Movies Bucket List

Next up for the Bucket List was a first-time watch. And not one that I was particularly looking forward to.  I had heard of this film in passing but never really knew what it was about. But when I looked it up, the plot didn't really appeal to me. This was mainly because I'm not a huge lover of films set in or around war. And that's not to say I've never enjoyed a war film, because I definitely have. But it's not a genre I'm ever really excited to watch. And when it comes to this movie, I thought it was okay. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it, I didn't really have any feelings towards it one way or the other. I thought the acting was great - the film stars a lot of recognisable, highly revered actors who played their roles really well. But other than that, the story didn't particularly interest me the whole way through - there were definitely some parts that were more interesting than others. Speak No Evil | Film Review

  When Louise (Mackenzie Davis), Ben (Scoot McNairy) and their daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler) spend the weekend with a family they meet on holiday, they soon find themselves in grave danger. This film was on my radar for a while, as a huge fan of James McAvoy, so I couldn't wait to see it! I didn't know it was a remake until the promotion started, but after seeing this one I really want to watch the original too! I really really liked this movie.  For a start, I really liked how simple the premise was. The basic idea of a family visiting another family that they don't know very well could go in so many different directions, and would probably work well in a comedic or dramatic genre. But it's also the perfect plot for horror. Tension is created expertly throughout the film. From the first scene to the last, you're on the edge of your seat waiting to see what will happen next. Hey Guys x This is a very late Favourites, but let's get into it anyway! Favourite Movie: Destroyer My review of this was supposed to go up this week, but I bumped it for a more recent film instead, which means that you'll definitely be getting it next week, so I can't say much about it here. But if you get the chance to watch this movie - watch it! Favourite TV Show (1): Orange Is The New Black I am never up to date with shows. All the shows that I watch have either been over for years, I'm really behind on them, or I started getting up to date and then they got cancelled (Proven Innocent, Speechless etc.). Orange Is The New Black is one of only about two or three shows that I can say I keep up with it and watch it as soon as I can once it's released. Where Rainbows End vs. Love, Rosie | Film and Book Review

I've just finished reading 'Where Rainbows End' by Cecelia Ahern, and immediately had to watch the movie version, 'Love, Rosie'. The reason that I've decided to talk about them together, as opposed to only reviewing the book, is mainly because I didn't have enough to say about the book on its own to justify reviewing it. Alex (Sam Claflin) and Rosie (Lily Collins) have been best friends since childhood. But when they turn 18 and their paths start to diverge, they realise how much they need each other. I love the idea of this story. Whether in book or movie form, the idea of childhood best friends realising that they were always meant for each other is something that I'm really into. The book version of this story is written entirely of notes, emails, letters, instant messages and any other type of written media, and I loved this.
