March Favourites | 2018
Hey Guys x
For some reason, I seem to have collected quite a lot of favourites this month, so I'm gonna get straight into it before this post becomes too long!
Favourite Movie (1): Red Sparrow
I've already reviewed this, and you can check out my thoughts here! But I've been thinking about it more and more lately, and the more I think about it, the more I love it. Definitely check this out if you haven't yet!
Favourite Movie (2): The Greatest Showman
Again, I've already reviewed this here, but I also thought it deserved recognition in my 'Favourites' post because it's just amazing. I've already seen it twice and I feel like by the end of the year I'll have seen it 20 times because it's that good!
Favourite Movie (3): Creed
I haven't seen any of the 'Rocky' movies. They're not something that I grew up with, and they're not something that I had any desire to see. However, when Creed initially came out (in 2015), it was getting so much praise that I thought I should give it a chance. Then I forgot about it. So it's taken me the better part of 2 and a half years, but I've finally seen it, and I LOVE it! I could kick myself for not seeing it all that time ago because I was really missing out! It's about the son of Apollo Creed, and the way that he wants to become a boxer in his own right. It's a heartwarming film, and by the end you're definitely rooting for Adonis. Watch this if you haven't!
Favourite TV Show (1): Skins
I started watching this this month and I love it so much! It's a show about kids in sixth form in Bristol, and all the things that they get up to. It's real and raw and at times, quite dark. I've just finished the first season and can't wait to get stuck into the second because I need to know what happens next! All of the episodes are on 4OD (for the UK), so you have no excuse not to watch them!
Favourite TV Show (2): The Office
I'm bingeing this, and it's even better the second time around. I couldn't recommend it enough. I think that there's something in it for everyone and it's completely hilarious! Watch this!
Favourite Song: The Greatest Showman Soundtrack
I have not stopped listening to this since the night that I first purchased it immediately after watching the movie. My advice would be to get some headphones, put the song 'From Now On' on, turn it up as loud as you can without damaging your hearing and close your eyes. That song can motivate you to do anything and Hugh Jackman's voice is EVERYTHING!
Favourite YouTuber: Louise Pentland
Louise Pentland is a YouTuber that I have consistently loved since I first started watching YouTubers, before they were as popular as they are today. Whether she's writing books, or birthing and raising children, or stroking her cats, she's such an interesting person to watch, and she's someone that I'm so happy to support.
Favourite Actor (1): Hugh Jackman
This has been a long time coming. And I guess it's fitting that X-Men men have filled the slot for the year so far, but playing Wolverine isn't the only reason that Hugh is one of my favourite actors this month. He's the main man in 'The Greatest Showman' and his voice alone earns him this place. He's just incredible, and I feel like he can do no wrong. He's earned a reputation as one of the nicest guys in Hollywood and it's not hard to see why!
Favourite Actor (2): Tessa Thompson
This month, I've been unintentionally delving into her filmography. I saw 'Annihilation', 'Furlough' and 'Creed', and she was just amazing in every single one of those roles, not to mention that they were SO different from each other! I think she's an amazing actress and an amazing person, and I hope to follow her career for as long as she has one (a very long time!) because she's incredible. Not only when she's acting, but when she's campaigning for women, or people of colour - she's strong, and she's not afraid to say what she's thinking. We need more people like Tessa, especially in Hollywood!
Favourite Actor (3): Michael B Jordan
The love is real. Of course, he played Killmonger in 'Black Panther' and was amazing in the role, and I've mentioned Creed twice in this post already, which he lead. But I've also seen 'That Awkward Moment' and 'Fruitvale Station' and can confirm that he is an incredible actor. He excels in literally everything he does and he's someone that's so down to earth that you can be proud of his successes as if you actually know him. It's lovely to see him doing so well and I can't wait to see his next projects, including but not limited to 'Creed II', which comes out in November!
Favourite YouTube Video: Tipsy Talk with Alicia Vikander
It's another 'Tipsy Talk' this week, but this time it's with Alicia Vikander, who's probably going to be in my Favourites next month when I finally get to see Tomb Raider. Hazel Hayes has such a unique interviewing style; it sounds like she's interviewing an old friend, and that makes for some interesting insights into the film industry. 'Tipsy Talk' is my favourite series on YouTube and I can't wait to see who she interviews next!
