February Favourites | 2018
Hey Guys x
It's Favourites time once again! These are the only posts that I do consistently month after month, and it's really nice to look back over what I've loved that month.
Tell me in the comments what you've been loving this month!
Favourite Movie: Black Panther
Other than this film, all I've been watching this month are Oscar nominees, and I didn't want to choose a favourite from that list. However, I'll be putting up a review of this film really soon, so I don't want to say anything about it right now! But if you haven't seen this yet, go and see it.
Favourite TV Show: Girls
When I finished Gossip Girl at the end of last year, I desperately needed a new TV show to start watching. I heard really mixed things about this show, but I decided to give it a chance because everyone has different preferences, and it seemed like an interesting show. Anyway, I started watching it, and I really like it! I'm only on the second season, but so far I'm really into it!
Favourite Song: Never Say Never
This song, by The Fray, was used at the end of the last ever episode of The Vampire Diaries, and it just makes me so emotional and full of feelings about one of my favourite ever shows. However, I've found that listening to it more makes me feel less emotional about it, and now I'm able to really appreciate the song for what it is, an amazing piece of music.
Favourite YouTuber: Hazel Hayes
My love for this woman is never-ending. She's a constant inspiration, whether it's filmmaking, confidence, body positivity, script writing, everything basically. I'm so excited to see what's coming from her because so far I've loved everything that she's ever done!
Favourite Actor: Michael Fassbender
I'm a huge fan of Michael Fassbender, more so recently as I've fallen in love with the X-Men franchise, in which he plays Magneto. However, I've also watched other movies of his, like Eden Lake ( a messed up movie), The Light Between Oceans (beautiful) and Shame (amazingly acted/directed) and so far he hasn't failed to impress me. I need to watch more of his movies because he's an amazing actor!
Favourite YouTuber: Tipsy Talk With Saoirse Ronan
I loved this video so much! I love all of Hazel's videos anyway, but rarely do I get to see a movie before she does a Tipsy Talk with an actor. But this time, I managed to see Lady Bird before this video came out. It was so interesting to see the movie from the point of view of these two ladies, who left their home of Ireland for London and were reminiscing about the fact that, when you leave home it isn't really 'home' anymore. Whether you've seen Lady Bird or not, this video is interesting anyway!
Random Favourites
Atonement
I love the movie version of this. However, I have a university module where I get to choose which film adaptation I get to write my final essay about. I've been going back and forth about what to write about, when I was on the 'Atonement' movie wikipedia and remembered that it's actually a book. So I immediately bought the book and started reading. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm so in love with it and I'm definitely going to write my essay on it! Whether you've seen the film or not, the book is equally amazing so definitely read it if you get the chance!
Awards Season
The Oscars just happened and I was so excited for it! I don't know what it is about Awards Season, but it's my favourite time of year, and the only time when going to the cinema every week is completely legitimised! Also, congratulations to Shape Of Water, Three Billboards, Darkest Hour and Get Out - worthy winners in my opinion!
